Kintamayama Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) Takamisakari, local boy Kotomitsuki and kids at the Aichi World Fair Basho, held at the Expodome: The finals: Asashouryuu against Chiyotaikai: 3000 spectators filled the dome to its capacity. 36 rikishi took part in the torikumi, children did keiko with the pros, lots of laughs, crowd was ecstatic. Higashimori Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 just to add, saw something on NHK tonight, those kids were from an International School in Nagoya (just in case folks were wondering where all those big bad gaijin kids came from ;-) . The Asa-Taikai bout was a laugh-fest, literally....they were laughing as they kept bouncing off each other. Asa was shown touring the Mongolian pavillion later and then proclaiming that the Expo was "subarashii", that it would take a week just to see everything, and that he was going to make an effort when he comes back to town for the Nagoya Basho to see more of it.
Kintamayama Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) Then, Takamisakari was interviewed by some 11 year-old junior correspondents of the Expo newspaper. "How did you decide to be a sekitori?", they asked. "I was told by my primary school principal that it's a job where you can eat as much as you like, so..", he answered, laughing loudly. Takamisakari and children (with hardhats, just in case..) Edited April 4, 2005 by Kintamayama

(the Emperor's cup on his lap might have helped too ... ;-))

Seems a little neglected lately.
