Henka Epidemic?

What the heck is going on? Seems like everyone below ozeki (and even some of them) are trying to henka this basho! Does anybody track such information--and, if true, why this sudden fondness for trickery?

You mean Roho-Kotomitsuki eh? Yes I was really looking forward to this bout. Both have shown some strong yotsu wins so far. But that bout could have been in maezumo...

Mikey got what was coming to him today. He really overuses henka, so should expect to be repaid in kind. Roho 'deked' him outta his shoes!

It feels like this subject is coming up almost every basho, so I don't think this basho is any special.

Ama-Tokitsuumi was funny alright ... but i see no henka there though ...

they just went both for the rear grip but from different directions.

I think there are threads like this for every basho. (Praying...) Always the same - people believe they had never seen so many henkas before... (Annoyed...)

In many cases it is the same every basho. You can rely on henkas from: Miyabiyama, Kotooshu, Roho, Kotomitsuki, Kyokutenho (still to come), Kakizoe (still to come), Gojoro (he was the first this time, wasn't he?), Kotonowaka, Asanowaka, Tochiazuma (but he staid away from it in the last time (Sign of approval) ), ...That's the large crowd I think.

But it was pointed out in some thread that the number of hataki/hiki at tachi-ai is about average, so you're right. There's nothing one could to do, just to like it or not. A henka smily would be useful.

Yeah,, maybe they told each other before the bout: "Let's both go right and get a rear grip and then see who wins it!" (Sign of approval)

These guys produced such a funny sight, but I also loved Buyuzan going forth and then falling back, as well as Kotomitsuki's spirited plunge, which was slapped down by Roho! B-) Yep, henka can be funny at times, but I would still prefer that the wrestler would go head-on instead of trying to pull some cheap tricks. (Sign of disapproval)
