Hakuyobaku Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Just saw the movie. To me it seemed that ASanowaka actually won that bout. On the replay it can be seen that before Asanowaka actually lands, outside the dohyo, Chiyohakuho's left foot collapses and his left ankle and well some of the lower part of his leg ( not the sole of his foot) touches the dohyo. Now if a mono-ii was called they really should have payed attention to that.. Poor Asanowaka.
Zuikakuyama Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 I agree. Should have deserved a mono-Ii, especially since Asanowaka was the aggressor.
Kashunowaka Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 (edited) There was a mono-ii. They have video replay. Asanowaka did get the gumbai, but the decision was reversed. To me it looks like Asanowaka lands first, FWIW. Edited March 21, 2005 by Kashunowaka

aderechelsea Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Chiyohakuho's foot touches the dohyo before Asanowaka steps outside. i cannot comprehend why the win was given to him after the mono-ii ... (he was not even the attacker at that point, in order to get some "initiative points" ) strange decision ... do not read below this point if you hate conspiracy theories !!!!!! . . . . . . maybe they wanted to give the young star a chance to remain in the division for the next basho, while Asanowaka is near his intai so no need for him to get it ... (i know ... it is far-fetched)
Mark Buckton Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 many many replays on TV - different angles and Chiyo's foot / ankle DIDN'T touch before Asanowaka touched one foot down on the outside - was close but it was a very good call.
aderechelsea Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 ok i have to trust you guys in the position to see many replays ... so .... did i say conspiracy ? sometimes i confuse my words ... soryy .. no spik goud... inglis ... (Blinking...)
Hakuyobaku Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Just rewatched the .rm variant of the replay.. now.. I'm a bit confused. If Asanowaka touched the area outside the ring with the tip of his left foot before Chiyohakuho even started to collapse, then i see.. but from this replay it seems that his toes aren't touching the area outside the dohyo. After that, Chiyohakuho starts to collapse backwards and slides his foot(ankle) briefly on the dohyo while Asanowaka himself flies out of the dohyo and land on it fractions after Chiyohakuho's touched the dohyo. Why? justy for the Heck of it.

(i know ... it is far-fetched) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing is far-fetched as far as Chiyohakuho is concerned. Remember this is the same guy who "exposed" another Takasago Beya rikishi in more way than one cares to describe. This guy must have some grudge against Takasago Beya rikishis. If I were Dorj, I'd be booking for another trip back home....

Was it Chiyohakuho who pulled the mawashi off the rikishi on the dohyo all those basho ago? (But wasn't that rikishi in Azumazeki-beya.... No wait, didn't Azumazeki-oyakata become Takasago-oyaka and bring his stable with him...??) Am I close? I do know that the rikishi who was 'exposed' has since retired, but even before the 'incident' had a heya nickname based on his wotsit....
aderechelsea Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 when did this happen? who was that rikishi? is this a taboo subject?
Chiyozakura Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I remember a Sandanme guy Asanokiri losing by a loose Mawashi about two or three years ago. Was Chiyohakuho his opponent on that day? Sounds like a very clever way to win...
aderechelsea Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 did a little googling and this exactly what happened ... wasn't Musashimaru's mawashi once loosened pretty bad ? (i think i remeber something like that)
Odoriou Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 wasn't Musashimaru's mawashi once loosened pretty bad ? (i think i remeber something like that) (Oops! )
Odoriou Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 (edited) See, what the audience is looking at... B-) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Edited March 22, 2005 by Odoriou
aderechelsea Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 he is going to get the yorikiri though .... GO MARU !!!!! ^^)
Hakuyobaku Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Is that a genuine picture? is that kyokutenho?
Jakusotsu Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Is that a genuine picture?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course! You can tell by the inverted suntan strip around the waist where the mawashi normally belongs. Also notice how quick-minded the gyoji had been to remove the fallen mawashi from the dohyo before anyone stumbles.
Hakuyobaku Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 So Musashimaru should have lost that match right?
Kintamayama Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Is that a genuine picture?is that kyokutenho? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it's a total , blatant fake. Any novice Sumo fan can see it's Kotonowaka's ass. The nerve.
