I just knew this photo would be in here today, "shoes-on" wins with one of the strangest manoeuvres ever seen, the initial thigh tap meant the highly unusual move was deamed "uchimuso" in the Kimarite department, but the ensuing collapse of bodies was most peculiar indeed.

Tamanoshima picked up a very easy win from the ailing Kasugao

The king of the leg trips Tokitenku pulled out another seldom seen leg trip today

kirikaeshi (twisting backward knee trip) - The attackers takes a step forward with his leg closest to the opponent to the point where his knee is placed behind the opponent's leg.

With opponent prone the attacker twists him backwards over his knee.

Stupid websites. Stupid repeated pictures of stupid yokozuna. Where's stupid Taikai?

we don't have a smarter one to become a yokozuna yet. so you have to watch this stupid sumo... and this unbeatable "stupid" descendant of Chinggis Khan

Erkhembulgan,

Please, leave Chinggis Khan and other crap ("unbeatable" my ass) out of this forum.

I don't see anybody who is able to stop him. It is obvious that he is the best sumotori today. I do not know what you have against Chinggis Khan, but could you name me another ruler who was able to conquer a bigger territory than he did? I am not saying that Asashoryu invaded Japan. I am trying to point to the genetic relationship between these two warriors

Can you provide significant genealogical documents proving (patrilineal, or matrilineal) that Asashoryu is a direct descendant of the monarch?

Yes? No?

Then, please, avoid this cheap trick.

I hope that you are not going to say that Asa and Chinggis are not Mongolians? Maybe you know that members of certain ethnic groups and nationalities differ slightly in terms of genetic structure. I am trying to say that these 2 guys are related to each other. Of course Asa is not a grandson of Chinggis... :-/ they are both from khakha mongolian ethnic group.

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, the fact that Asashoryu is Mongolian does not mean he's any more genetically related to Genghis/Chinggis than half the Asia and parts of Europe - with spreading of (truly amazingly large) Mongolian empire, some of "Mongolian" genes undoubtedly got mixed in the local population, and there have been quite a few centuries between Genghis and Asashoryu... (BTW, did you know that humans as a species are incredibly homogeneous genetically? Two humans regardless of their race are on average more closely related, that is share more genetic material, than two chimps, or two lions...)

Thrid, I don't think anyone on this forum has problems with Asashoryu's origins... in fact, you've been mostly "arguing" with your compatriots in this thread.

Fourth, I better quit while I still make sense... :-P

Thanks for wellcoming,

I think my "problem" is that I am a geneticist. (In a state of confusion...) In 2002 I studied genetic polymorphisms in mongolian population and tried to compare with some other asian poulations. Now I am more involved in cell biology rather than structural genomics. And I would like to apologize for some "nationalistic" ideas. Maybe I just wanted to attract peoples' attention ;-) Of course the origin of Asa is not that important. LET'S ENJOY SUMO!
