Jejima Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Statrted off with a bang, or what???? This basho is going to be interesting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> followed two bouts leter by a whimper (wimp / henka, take your pick)... On day one too... Against an Ozeki.... Who is smaller than you... tsk
aderechelsea Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 a henka, if it is to be done, it MUST be done against an Ozeki or a Yokozuna (if i would make a rule about it) ..... i wouldn't like to see the Ozeki do the henka ....

(Sign of disapproval) But in this case I kind of agree with what the NHK English announcers said: "Tochiazuma gets a taste of his own medicine."
QttP Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 But in this case I kind of agree with what the NHK English announcers said: "Tochiazuma gets a taste of his own medicine." When was the last time Tochiazuma performed henka?
Naifuzan Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 He did do it a lot a while ago when he was injured but still held on to his ozeki rank with the help of the kosho rule and plenty henka's.

Two of the main reasons why in spite of his apparent talent I've never much cared for him as a rikishi. Edited March 13, 2005 by Ryukaze

Kasugaran Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Give Tochi a break. He is now trying to mend his ways (see last tourney) and he gets this treatment? I hope he goes on to win the Basho!

I hope he goes on to win the Basho! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But to quote Tochiazuma himself from another thread: Tochiazuma - (Losing to Kotomitsuki's henka) I hadn't thought about that [possibility]. It's the fault of the one who falls for it. - and it makes sense. (Pulling hair...)

Araiguma_Rascal Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 When was the last time Tochiazuma performed henka? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know about the most recent one, but the one that will always stick out in my mind is the one he used against Taikai to win a yusho. A whole tournament built up to the final showdown between Taikai and Tochiazuma, and Tochiazuma won the last , most important and dramatic bout that the fans had been anticipating for the WHOLE tournament with a tachiai henka. If I never see something like that again in a bout with the tournament on the line, it'll be too soon. To me, it doesn't matter whether it was recent or not, it will always affect my opinion of him negatively.

Loser.
