Randomitsuki Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 (edited) While my game concept Edited December 30, 2004 by Budinishiki
Kintamayama Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 When is the deadline? "2. Players can enter the game at any time in any basho." This can be a bit misleading, as it could be understood to mean what it says-at any time, meaning I can enter on day 12 of a given basho. I'm pretty sure this isn't the case.. Also- I suggest another rule: "Edited posts will not be accepted. " If someone wants to change their entry, they should delete their original posts and re-enter. It will be really difficult to wade through all the entries trying to check if the edits were before the deadline. Not that I think any of our esteemed members might stoop so low, God forbid..
Yangnomazuma Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Oh why not....Kototakeuchi My guess is this guy will go 0-7 since my knowledge of anything below mid Juryo could barely fill a thimble...
Randomitsuki Posted December 30, 2004 Author Posted December 30, 2004 Thanks for the suggestions. I have deleted the original rule 2 ('twas redundant anyway), and instead included the "no-edited post rule". Once again: Deadline is shonichi 6am JST. Budinishiki
Mattjila Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Entry: Jk29e Yatsurugiyama Nice, long name.
Asashosakari Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 I'll go with Jk35w Nakatani. Interesting game idea, at any rate. It's especially devious that you'll trap yourself at the very bottom of Jonokuchi for next basho if your pick goes 0-7 and probably end up having to pick the same dead-ender again... (Whistling...)
Asashosakari Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 BTW, was there any special reason for picking Jk24 as the cutoff point, and how will this be chosen for players who join in subsequent bashos?
Randomitsuki Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 BTW, was there any special reason for picking Jk24 as the cutoff point, and how will this be chosen for players who join in subsequent bashos? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I could gather the rikishi on Jk25e is the highest-placed shin-deshi in Hatsu 05. I did not check that very carefully due to lack of time, but in general the choice point for new entries will be at or around the highest-placed shin-deshi. Budinishiki

(Whistling...) The highest-ranked shin-deshi is Jk36w Uchi, the highest-ranked rikishi who was in maezumo last basho is Jk35w Nakatani...
Oshirokita Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Cool game concept (ties in nicely with my own "Pick the Yusho Winner" game. Entry: Uchi Joker 1: Nakatani - Oshirokita
Jejima Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Can players pick a rikishi already picked by someone else? Jejima picks Jk32e Ishii
Kashunowaka Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I cannot imagine a better shikona than Wakatakaryu, so that's my choice.
Randomitsuki Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Can players pick a rikishi already picked by someone else? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, they can. No limits in this regard. If this leads to a tie in any of the standings, however, earlier picks will be higher ranked. Budinishiki

(Ranting...) The highest-ranked shin-deshi is Jk36w Uchi, the highest-ranked rikishi who was in maezumo last basho is Jk35w Nakatani... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, ooooops... (Showing respect...) Actually I could not find a shin-deshi list (I usually look at Bandey's site, but Hatsu shin-deshi weren't listed yet). To explain why I thought that the Jk25 rikishi were shin-deshi would be too weird, especially given the fact that my reasoning was flawed anyway. At least I now know that my picks aren't two mae-zumo hotshots, but two "veteran" losers who started almost a year ago... Well, that's why I wanted to play this game. I hardly have an inkling of what's going on below Juryo. Budinishiki
Zentoryu Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 At least I now know that my picks aren't two mae-zumo hotshots, but two "veteran" losers who started almost a year ago...Budinishiki <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unfortunately you can say that about nearly everyone ranked between Jk25 and jk35. (Ranting...) There are some seriously bad rikishi ranked down there. My pick: Jk35w Nakatani
Takanorappa Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Entry: Hokuo For no other reason than that's how I pronounce "Hakuho" after I've had few. (Ranting...)
Jakusotsu Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 Don't even know this guy, but Jk32w Hirai sounds nice.
aderechelsea Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 cool game ... and an easy one too (when you have no idea it is easy to make a choice) soooo ..... i pick ...... Jk28w Tsujino Aichi Asahiyama
