Guest Needle201 Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 and had blood in his lips.. (Punk rocker...)
Guest Needle201 Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 (edited) :-/ and what an awesome bout... Hakuho is the man...!!! it almost looked liked hakuho would lose, and that happened two times..but finally he "smashed" a sad looking Asa out of the dohyo.. amazing.. (Laughing...) i am also on the official Hakuho Bandwagon now (Punk rocker...) Edited November 24, 2004 by bakanokumi
Tenkashoryu Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Oh man, this kid is just crazy. I wasn't even expecting this. What a BIG shock. (Punk rocker...)
Guest bnona Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Buuulshiiittt. Hakuho if you can't get yusho and losing remaining bouts , you're dead man.......
karlsmom Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 I am a fan of both Asashoryu and Hakuho, and the only comment I said after was "What the (Censored) ! Still it does go to show, that Hakuho has what it takes between his ears not to buckle under pressure. I believe yokozunas are made of this stuff. Only regret was Asa is no longer zensho... (Punk rocker...)
Zuikakuyama Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 (Punk rocker...) What a nice bout. I smell a hiramaku yusho.
kotooshu_bulgaria Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 No regrets and Hakuho for yusho and yokozuna by the end of next year. Didn't see the bout yet, but have to say Hakuho is just amazing! (Punk rocker...)
Ryukaze Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 (edited) I agree I was just waiting to see "Asa" go for the kill and really blow him outta there, (not much of a hakuho fan and he has been KILLING my sumo-game record!lol worth it to see such good sumo tho!) Today again just refusing to go out at the edge and letting the other man make the mistake, Asa's own momentum finished him off. Knowing Asa this ones gonna stick in his craw for a while lol, be interesting to see how he responds the rest of the basho though. Edited November 24, 2004 by Ryukaze
Phelix Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 WHAT??? Gee, I knew the kid was good - but this good? Wooooo..... (Punk rocker...) I can
KIKENNA Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Buuulshiiittt. Hakuho if you can't get yusho and losing remaining bouts , you're dead man....... Same here. I stood on hakuho's side, (asa is my favourite usualy), but if he doesn't yusho I'm gonna start sending some anthrax letters to his stable. But for now.... (Laughing...) !! (Clapping wildly...) Y.E.A.H!! HAKUHO (Punk rocker...) :-S oh...and one more thing... There were some discussions on this forum previous to this basho about Asashoryu and TRAINING with him and some people (asahaters) tryed to explain to me that you don't have to train with better rikishi (Asa) to win and some more (Oops! ) like that. And the only kid who had (Censored) to front Asa during the training sessions beat him thus far. So there you go... (Blinking...) I'd really like to see Asa beat the (Censored) out of the yokozunas now, especially Chiyo (whom I also like, but he pissed me of when he refused practice with Y, after poor results in Aki, that was plain stupidity)... I just hope Asa is really pissed off now and Hakuho can stand the pressure.
Manekineko Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 I was late getting to net today, and the first think I did was open the NSK page and check the results. My feelings when I saw them? Glee... such glee. 'Though I lost 3 pts in Bench and got a kuroboshi in ISP, am I glad... I just wish I was able to see it live. This is such an exciting basho - now I will have another perfect Mongolian to cheer against. (Punk rocker...) Go, U! (Clapping wildly...)
aderechelsea Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 (edited) i got online before the match but couldn't get through the NSK live streaming ..... i will just have to wait for banzuke.com to upload the matches to see it. then i will come back to join the cheers or the cries ... Edited November 24, 2004 by aderechelsea
KIKENNA Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 (Clapping wildly...) And nice to see yet another Asashoryu fan who just can't help himself but label everyone who disagrees as an "Asahater". It's just easier, we all know nobody hates-HATES any rikishi in a true meaning of the word. I used to be a Musashimaru-hater. And i wouldn't care to ba callled that, altough I didn't actually hated him. so, I'm not sure what are you talking about. (Punk rocker...) sorry
Kishinoyama Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 WOW! So how does this compare with the Takanohana - Chiyonofuji upset in the early 90's? So does Wakanosato still not feel he has a chance at a yusho? If he beats Asa tomorrow then does he still not feel like he can win? (Clapping wildly...)
Doitsuyama Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 WOW! So how does this compare with the Takanohana - Chiyonofuji upset in the early 90's? If Asashoryu retires in two days, we might have a valid comparison...
Faustonowaka Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 The result of this bout makes the tournament very interesting!! Let's see how Asa reacts to his first loss: will he be able to defeat Wakanosato, Chiyotaikai and KaioU and clinch his 5th Yusho this year? Will Hakuho maintain his form and snatch away the Yusho? Will KaioU remain focussed, win all his remaining bouts and force a 4-way kettei-sen (KaioU, Asa, Wakanosato, Hakuho) thereby ensuring his Yokozuna promotion? Will Wakanosato be able to defeat the yokozuna and roll to the surprise Yusho, earning Ozeki promotion?
Ryukaze Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 WOW! So how does this compare with the Takanohana - Chiyonofuji upset in the early 90's? If Asashoryu retires in two days, we might have a valid comparison... LOL! Yeah i dont think Shoryu's ready to hang it up just yet! (Although it was quite a shocking match wasnt it!?) hakuho is now definately in the drivers seat to win this yusho as he will have a much eaier remaining schedule than the other three, be awesome to see a playoff though.
Fujisan Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Who said this basho was a downer after Musoyamas retirement,Tochiazumas fusen sho and Chiyotaikais------------"Well Chiyotaikai-" Well done Hakuho but Asa will win the rematch if there is one in the event of a tie.
Xris Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 the way hakuho kinda backs off and allows the second charge then does the matador trick kinda annoys me. worked well today though. surprised asa came in so hard. I need to see it again, but from my point of view, the match was mostly lost by Asa. Two times, he should have finished it, and then he ran straight into Hakuko who had the reaction that was needed to win the match. Asa should not have lost like that. He is not yokozuna because nobody plays "tricks" on him. He is yokozuna because he is usually in control and dump people that try play matador. He is yokozuna because he does not usually need to rush blindy into someone. He usually grabs the guy, and them dump him (by whatever technique available). Not this time. Not next time most probably. He may get his revenge on day 15.
Jonosuke Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Well done Hakuho but Asa will win the rematch if there is one in the event of a tie. Has Dorji lost two straight to the same rikishi since becoming a yokozuna?
Taka Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 (edited) the way hakuho kinda backs off and allows the second charge then does the matador trick kinda annoys me. worked well today though. surprised asa came in so hard. A "scary" thought I just had: The way Asashoryu fought Hakuho today reminded me a lot of how he fought Takanohana in their sole meeting and yesterday Kaio came out blasting with oshi as well. How much of a coincidence is that? I don't think they want to give Hakuho his grip at any cost. I'm thinking that they know that unless Hakuho makes a mistake like he did against Wakanosato, it's virtually game over. It's yorikiri Hakuho just like all those times it used to be yorikiri Takanohana. Look at way he drove back Kakizoe and Wakanosato. With so much ease and yet so much power. And like we saw against Wakanosato he is not in FULLY control yet. Often he elects to react, to counter his opponent with a throw. Or against Iwakiyama and today Asashoryu, use his smooth panther like movement to outmaneuver the opponent. Against Asashoryu, Takanohana used his incredible balance to just keep going, marching forward, get the grip and get the win. In the future that's what I think we will see from Hakuho as well. I guess one question is if he can somehow manage to obtain, at least somewhat, the incredible balance Takanohana possesed marching forward, but with the way he moves, so athletic. so very smoth...why not? At his best though Takanohana (almost) couldn't be moved. Hakuho right now clearly can and he has to use his superior movement in order to win. That's why there was some matador today. If he gets stronger and it's safe to say that he will, it's very likely we won't see that. He will be marching forward instead and it will be yorikiri Hakuho. (Holiday feeling...) sashimaru Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Has Dorji lost two straight to the same rikishi since becoming a yokozuna? Wakanosato has won against Asashoryu in the Nagoya Basho and in the Aki Basho: Basho Day Asashoryu Kimarite Wakanosato 2004 Aki 13 L Y1E Tsukiotoshi W S1E 2004 Nagoya 12 L Y1E Hatakikomi W S1E
Kashunowaka Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Has Dorji lost two straight to the same rikishi since becoming a yokozuna? Wakanosato has won against Asashoryu in the Nagoya Basho and in the Aki Basho: Basho Day Asashoryu Kimarite Wakanosato 2004 Aki 13 L Y1E Tsukiotoshi W S1E 2004 Nagoya 12 L Y1E Hatakikomi W S1E Asashoryu lost to Kaio in his two first basho as yokozuna. Then there was the two losses against Shuzan, including the infamous hansoku incident. And Tochiazuma beat Asashoryu twice in a row last year.
Araiwa Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 A "scary" thought I just had: The way Asashoryu fought Hakuho today reminded me a lot of how he fought Takanohana in their sole meeting and yesterday Kaio came out blasting with oshi as well. How much of a coincidence is that? These are exactly my thoughts! Could we have overseen some distant relationship between Takanohana and Hakuho?! (Holiday feeling...) Maybe he is a lost nephew or something... It is really scary to see this bout (praise Dale) and great too, cause Hakuhos win is so CCAC (cool, calm and collected). He has no nerves and never lost oversight in the bout. He defeated Asashoryu like Takanohana would have (maybe). I wonder if Hakuhos talent is even greater than Asashoryus. Ok, this is a huge prospect but Hakuhos sumo shows again much greater harmony as Asas ever has. Asashoryus is speed and pure stength, Hakuhos is like floating water adapting to every form. (ok, i'm coming down again...)
Fujisan Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Of course though the only tie breaker match Asashoryu had against a rikishi he lost to earlier in the basho was Hokutoriki and he won that. (Applauding...) Then again Hokutoriki is hardly in Hakuhos league. (Holiday feeling...)
