Athenayama Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 t's time to kick off the Metasumo 2026 edition! It's a simple game for everyone where you choose the GAMERS you think will get the most points in the Superbanzuke Masters series. Go to this link and choose ONE player from each of the groups below: 1-5 6-10 11-20 21-40 41-80 81-120 121-200 201+ for a total of eight players. If you would like to choose one of the promising new players who are not listed in the 2025 final standings, please place them in the 201+ category. Please post your picks in this thread. The deadline is Shonichi of the Hatsu Basho 2026. Get your entries in soon () and remember that "Metasumo champion" is a title you keep your whole life. Let's try to beat the record of participants (33 players for the first edition in 2012 and 32 players in 2020). Good luck to all of you and have a nice ending of the year! (Of course, I'll hand over the running of the game to @Tenshinhan whenever he shows up !) 2 2
Athenayama Posted December 28, 2025 Author Posted December 28, 2025 (edited) So, nobody wants to be the first to submit, huh? 😜 Ok, let's start this then ! 1-5 Pandaazuma (Steadily in the top 5 why would 2026 be any different ? My only concern is that he won't be able to score any points in Bench for another 2 or 3 bashos but that was the case in 2025 already). 6-10 Oskanohana (and not just for the jokes ! All the others are worthy though). 11-20 Kitakachiyama (my Ichimon buddies in Bench Beeftank or Kajiyanosho are definitely worthy also but you have to make choices !) 21-40 Kintamayama (he was ranked higher these past years, where he actually belongs. I expect/hope that he'll be back there in 2026) 41-80 Athenayama (it was either me or Ganzohnesushi ! I don't want to put him too much pressure though as I prefer to see him healthy. 😉 2025 was my worst year after my first in 2018 when I started to play. This cannot be repeated. Plenty of other possible choices though. I won't name them not to give hints!) 81-120 lonewolf (will he keep on climbing the ladder? I hope so ! Kamibaka was a good alternative). 121-200 Jejima (plenty of new players here, difficult to choose so we'll pick a veteran who certainly belongs higher. Make us proud in 2026 !) 201+ Sukubidubidu (I don't know if 2025 was just a bad year or if he/she isn't in sumo games anymore. If it was just a bad year I expect some good points. We'll find out ! Toonoryu goes up and down year after year. 2025 was down, I believe 2026 should be up but I had to make a choice.) Edited December 29, 2025 by Athenayama

Fia Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 2 picks already, now that's some pressure. If you want a better return on your investment, maybe you can get me in contact with someone who can get me a Tipspiel account, seeing as I currently can't play that, because the registration for that forum has been broken for years. Also, I strategically threw away my Toto Lead in the last two days in Kyushu, just so I could pick myself at 201+ here, of course. 1-5: Pandaazuma 6-10: Bunbukuchagama 11-20: Norizo 21-40: Hakumadashi 41-80: BlackPinkMawashi 81-120: Kamibaka 121-200: Ippikiokami 201+: Fia

Ganzohnesushi Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 1 -5 Pandaazuma (could be his year again) 6-10 Bunbukuchagama (getting stronger and stronger) 11-20 Norizo (has not won a Yusho in 2025, I assume this will change) 21-40 Joaoiyama (can only perform better than in the last two years) 41-80 Ganzohnesushi (there is no alternative, winning this bracket is a must) 81-120 Gustl (a promising newcomer) 121-200 Jejima (hope he is not on vacation too often during a Basho) 201+ Fia (hopefully she will change her strategy in Seki Toto) Ganzohnesushi
Shatsume Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Kaito DeRosa Norizo Asashosakari Gonzaburow Sakura Jejima Reonito
Athenayama Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 Nice to see new players participating. Keep going !
Sumo Spiffy Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) For transparency: I quit playing some of the daily games (Tipspiel, Quad, Odd, Seki-Toto, Sumo Game). I suppose this could help me focus on the ones I do play, but it's only fair to make this known. 1-5: Kaito 6-10: Bunbukuchagama 11-20: Norizo 21-40: ScreechingOwl 41-80: Gonzaburow 81-120: KAMIBAKAAAAAA 121-200: Jejima 201+: Fia Edited Saturday at 16:06 by Sumo Spiffy
Jejima Posted January 4 Posted January 4 1-5 Pandaazuma 6-10 Kachikoshi 11-20 Susanoo 21-40 Joputosu 41-80 Gaijingai 81-120 Chocshoporyu 121-200 Jejima 201+ shimodahito
Hakumadashi Posted January 4 Posted January 4 1-5 Pandaazuma (I physically flipped a coin because I coudln't decide between him and Kaito) 6-10 Bunbukuchagama 11-20 Norizo 21-40 Hakumadashi (I would've been more comfortable picking myself if I ended up 41st instead of 39th, but with only two (or was it three?) basho on the ranking and me being the only player I know for certain that he's playing all the games - as long as the Bench deadline is remembered - I kinda have to, haven't I? Shoutout to Papayasu and Asashosakari though) 41-80 Ganzohnesushi 81-120 Gustl (I barely know anyone in this bracket, so I've just picked the Metasumotori with the biggest number of different games they've scored SB points in) 121-200 Jejima 201+ Fia

Kintamayama Posted January 5 Posted January 5 1-5 Kaito 6-10 Oskahanada 11-20 Susanoo 21- 40 Screeching Owl 41 - 80 Gonzaburow 81- 120 Kamibaka 121 - 200 Jejima 201 - Sukubidubidu I feel that making the guesses public is never a good thing. It can't be that complicated to register our not so many (regretfully) guesses by mail or homing pigeon or whatever. .

Submission by PM here or sent by email could be easily implemented as far as I'm concerned. And I agree with you. The only thing I would miss are the (optional) comments why we picked "X" or "Y". 😜
Ganzohnesushi Posted January 5 Posted January 5 To be honest, I like the public guesses. Especially when these are garnished with (sometimes funny) comments. Like Athenayama I really would miss something. I consider this little game for the fun of it more than a competition. Seems to be the right approach for winning twice in history Ganzohnesushi 2

Jakusotsu Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Only one pick so far for Joputosu? He was my first choice before taking a gamble with Hakumadashi.
