Akinomaki Posted November 30 Posted November 30 For MOST CONSECTIVE SUMO BOUTS (1748 ATM), certified in the 2026 Guinness Book - he is deeply moved by that and it's a nice late present for his 41th birthday (in October): "I won the yusho 2 times, but never got a medal from Mongolia". Hakuho has a few Guinness records. o 2
Jakusotsu Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Damn you, Covid, for spoiling a truly unblemished record! 1

Kishinoyama Posted Friday at 01:24 Posted Friday at 01:24 The fusen basho for covid does not bother me in the least. There is no doubt in my mind that Tamawashi would have been on the dohyo all 15 days of the tournament. It wasn’t like he had a choice in the matter. If anything, he lost 15 days that could be added to his overall total when he finally does retire. 3

As far as i remember, it was emphasized that his streak continues, because he had to drop out without being the cause for the kyujo. You really can't blame him for a corona scare in iKataonami-beya. If he had been the one infected, i'd probably stand with you. Because then it also could've been a nasty flu in another basho. Congratulations to Tamawashi! Edited Friday at 19:04 by Benihana 1

Cal Ripken, Jr. played 2632 Major League Baseball games in a row during his career, eclipsing the immortal Lou Gehrig's 2130. If, say, he missed a game because some of his teammates may have contracted anthrax, it wouldn't take the shine off that record, because not only was it not his fault, but he could not play that game under MLB rules. If the NSK decided that his heya was disallowed from competing, should he have overpowered some oyakata and forced himself onto the dohyo?
Reonito Posted Saturday at 19:20 Posted Saturday at 19:20 It's morally equivalent to complaining that he missed Natsu 2020. 1
ryafuji Posted Sunday at 00:04 Posted Sunday at 00:04 (edited) All I'm saying is that fusen does stick out when you look down his record. Of course it wasn't his fault and that there wasn't anything he could have done about it. It's a shame for aesthetic reasons that the 5-8-2 is there, it just messes up his scorecard.
