Jakusotsu Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I've checked the archives: this is the worst basho we ever had so far regarding diversity, and it won't be likely to improve tomorrow. But does anyone have an idea why Hakuoho will be facing Oshoma instead of Hiradoumi? Sumo Spiffy (Ye) 7-0 Bunbukuchagama (Oe) 7-0 Oshirokita (S1e) 7-0 Jakusotsu (S1w) 7-0 Fashiriteta (S2e) 7-0 shimodahito (Ke) 7-0 Kachikoshi (Kw) 7-0 Profomisakari (M1e) 7-0 Jejima (M2w) 7-0 Athenayama (bg) 7-0 Ryoshishokunin (M2e) 6-0-1 The Kyokai (M3e) 0-7 Gurowake (YOw) 0-0-7 Andonishiki (M1w) kosho Ura's aites: 1. Tamawashi, 2. Oshoma, 3. Yoshinofuji, 4. Oho, 5. Kotozakura, 6. Aonishiki, 7. Onosato

The only thing it changed was that it allowed the M7s to fight each other. If they didn't change it just for the sake of doing something different, all I can think is that they thought it would create more changes down the line automatically, and when it didn't, they just said fk it and left it.
shimodahito Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) 8. Hoshoryu Once in a while, these trains are groovy. It's like chess with each day being a move. Going with predictable, highly probable moves before being put in a position where you have a choose less predictable decision path. I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often where the "diversity" starts from nakabi to day 10; especially when the Aite is in the M1~M4 range. Edited November 14 by shimodahito
Ryoshishokunin Posted November 14 Posted November 14 8. Hoshoryu. I'd assert that they've got some plan that needs the obvious match for Hakuoho later, but they have approx. zero interest in planning ahead afaict.

Jakusotsu Posted November 15 Posted November 15 There's the first major difference to last basho, but it didn't affect our game. Jejima Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 Grrrr! I thought today that I might come up with a different rikishi to Jakusotsu. But I concur - Day 9 - Wakamotoharu PS Just seen Athenayama has entered with a different candidate
