S1W Gusoyama needs a zensho yusho (to get promoted to Ozeki) from J2w Asahakuryu.

Asahakuryu is on a hat-trick (after Makushita, then Juryo yushos) for yushos, so it is an actual possibility.

M14W Marakizumi has drawn M17e Chiyoshoma.

Chiyoshoma has taken the elevator back to Makunouchi, after one basho in Juryo.

M12W Getayukata gets M14w Tokihayate.

Tokihayate is the third lightest rikishi in the top division.

M3E Ganzohnesushi is going with K1e Takanosho.

Takanosho posted a 4-11 record the last time he was ranked as a Komusubi.

M17E Daiouika has been gifted M4w Oshoma.

Oshoma posted a 4-11 record the last time he was ranked at M4W - which was last November in Fukuoka....

M13E TheGunbaiHolder will hold onto M6e Atamifuji.

Atamifuji has only had one MK at a Kyushu basho.

Posted

M8W Chanko Thief will be hoping for great things from M12w Tomokaze.

Tomokaze has had back-to-back 9-6 records.

Posted

M5W Joaoiyama needs joy from M17w Asakoryu.

Asakoryu is the second lightest rikishi in Makunouchi.

Posted

M2E Karasukurai will be lumbered with J7e Takerufuji.

Will Takerufuji turn up to fight this basho? Or will Karasukurai require a redraw?

Posted

M7W Rokudenashi is going to rock it with J10e Hakuyozan.

Hakuyozan has had three MKs in-a-row. Time to turn it around!

Posted

M5E Iwadanuki enters the dohyo with M8e Ichiyamamoto.

Ichiyamamoto won his first Sekitori yusho (Juryo) and first Sekitori Jun-Yusho (Makunouchi) in November tournaments.

M4W Wamahada receives S1e Aonishiki.

Aonishiki has never had an MK record. He has a 79% win record. He is on an Ozeki run. All looking good for Wamahada!

M16E Lordshamrockyama will lord it up with M9w Tobizaru.

Tobizaru has only had one Makunouchi KK in Kyushu in his career.

M16W Kaba spins the wheel for himself, and gets K1w Takayasu.

This will be Takayasu's fourth basho in-a-row at Komusubi - despite getting MKs in two of them!

Posted

K1W Flohru has J8w Kazekeno.

According to Sumo Reference, Kazekeno's first basho was ranked as 'Banzuke-gai. Can anyone explain this anomaly?

Posted

M15W Jakusotsu has harpooned J6e Kotokuzan.

Kotokuzan is half-Filipino (I think) - like my children!

Posted

M15E Meletyoshi receives M13e Gonoyama.

Hopefully Gonoyama will not repeat his 1-14 record from September!

Posted

M8E Spytoneryu will be spotting Y1w Hoshoryu.

Hoshoryu looks like a good draw..... but he has pulled out of both the other non-Tokyo bashos in 2025.

Posted

K1E Fashiriteta has J1w Fujiseiun.

Fujiseiun is knocking at the door for a first time ever promotion to the top division.

That completes the draw, although we hope that @Ack! will make a late entry.

Hakumadashi will follow the fortunes of jk22E Higohikari   .

Higohikari has won exactly one bout in the past 17 bashos. Eek. I fear the worst for Hakumadashi.....  I think set a goal of surviving the whole basho without withdrawing?

Yeah, Green Eyed Dragon got Higohikari last basho for a record of 0-2-5 ..... Good luck to @Hakumadashi !

M6E Athenayama will hope for good things from J7w Shirokuma.

'Shirokuma' means 'Polar Bear'.

I'd be very happy with just an 8-7 this basho.

EDIT : Above post now corrected. Makuuchi was completely wrong and no table was displaying the rikishi drawn for each player. Sorry for that and thanks for your understanding.

Thanks to @Jejima for pointing it out !
