Atamifuji that high on the list of JY really jumps out!

I need to ask a statistician where Hakuho´s 45 Yusho rank in the list of most unbreakable sports records (modern era). It can´t be far removed from Bradman´s lifetime average or Chief Wilson´s single-season triple mark.

Funnily enough I came across this thread on Reddit last week while looking up Don Bradman. I can't vouch for the standard deviations etc...

900-123 record as Yokozuna is ridiculous. (Using the handy-dandy new "no fusen" option, thanks @Doitsuyama !)

16 zenshos, as many as the next two on the list, and more than one in three of his "unbreakable" career total, seems like an even more unbreakable record.

Zenshos are essentially extinct.

No, they're just very rare, and not as rare as 11-4Y in makunouchi, either.

Sure we don't have Hakuho, but he was off the scale.

Also remember that they can always come out of the blue, like kadoban ozeki Goeido's, and even Terunofuji's because he was a 12-3/13-2 guy.

So I'm not ruling Onosato out of clinching at least one in his career.

Nagoya 2025 yusho heya - Sadogatake 1955 (16th)

1955? Is that a date? None of the other heya have dates next to them...

The last one was Terunofuji's soon after Hakuho's retirement.

The previous non-Hakuho one? Goeido in 2016. And that was seen as a giant fluke.

Before that, we had Hakuho, Harumafuji, and Asashoryu.

Even 14-1s are becoming rare, we've only had 3 of those so far this decade.

Harumafuji somehow managed 3 in a 4-basho span that was a huge outlier vs the rest of his career.

1955? Is that a date? None of the other heya have dates next to them...

Yes this is the start date of the current incarnation of Sadogatake. The query shows that there were two yusho won by a previous incarnation of Sadogatake, but I am not counting those. I'll be planning on doing date research for the other heyas listed above, and the rankings are subject to change after next basho (or maybe during this summer if I get around to it)
