I might not be right, but you counted Nekonishiki's C-team goal twice - during the normal time and during the extra time. I don't think it is fair! I think you had to do a penalty shootout. Jakusotsu Posted July 20 Posted July 20 5 hours ago, Pitinosato said: Unfortunately the last chain was broken at slot 3 !?! No, because Fujiko's chain was already broken in slot 2, so you're R-team survived their draw (different rules apply). 3 hours ago, Achiyama said: I might not be right, but you counted Nekonishiki's C-team goal twice - during the normal time and during the extra time. The rules aren't clear on this: when starting the second run because of Krisachiyama's chain still being intact after 90 minutes, does Nekonishiki also start with an unbroken chain again?

Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 Hi all, I have NHK World on one monitor with the second half of the sumo about to start (with English commentary :-)), and I will go through the Bench Women's Euros admin on the other monitor.... First double check all of the results. NB. I believe that all were announced correctly, when I looked on my phone earlier, but I will do a final check just to be sure....
Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 Bench Women's Euro 2025 Saucer Quarterfinals Refioji: Jakusotsu Nekonishiki (Poland) (1-1, 2-1 AET) Krisachiyama (Wales) When I saw the result of extra time, as told by refioji Jakusotsu, I was sure that it was correct. This is for a few reasons from my thinking when I originally made the rules for the early rounds (up to the quarterfinals, as it happens) of the knockout stages, I wanted there to be some 'variety' of possible results which is helped by taking the special teams into account. Also, I wanted some 'balance'. By the knockout stages, most of the weaker teams are removed, which generally means that a player only either has an (R) team of a (C) team left. An R team has two opportunities to score two goals during the match (cannot be added together, so a max of two goals is possible with an R team). A C team has two opportunities to score one goal, which can be added - so a C team can also score a maximum of two goals during a match. Thereby, the advantages of a 'C' team comes closer to the advantages of an 'R' team. (I know that there are different risks and rewards for putting these special teams higher up the chain - but that is all part of the 'tactics' for this game.) I then read Achiyama's and Jakusotsu's comments - and got worried that the rules were not clear on this point.... However, after checking, I can copy and paste the following... (I've highlighted the key part...) ® and © teams keep their 'special rules' in extra time. (I.e. an ® team getting a draw in the 90 minutes, may break the player's chain, but if they go on to win in extra time - if that match is considered for a second time - they could end up scoring two goals in extra time for the player. Similarly, a player whose © team scored a goal for a draw during 90 minutes of regular play, could end up scoring a second goal in extra time, should the © team also draw over 120 minutes). Refioji: Athenayama Asapedroryu (Iceland) (0-0, 0-2 AET) Jejima (Italy) Refioji: Achiyama Ryoshishokunin (Netherlands) (1-0) Finngall (Denmark) Refioji: Nekonishiki Koorifuu (Portugal) (1-0) Ganzohnesushi (Switzerland)
Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 Bench Women's Euro 2025 Cup Quarterfinals Refioji: Jakusotsu Pitinosato (Germany) (0-0, 0-0 AET, 3-1 PK) Fujiko (England) This one took longer for me to check than the Saucer match that Jakusotsu was in charge of! Fujiko's 'Italy' win was of no help to her. (And the to begin with, my calculations for the extra time were wrong! Jakusotsu is correct - although I would say that Sweden's draw broke Pitinosato's chain's empty slot.) The penalty shoot-out is also the correct result, although, I would say that Fujiko does not take her final penalty (what was she thinking of, beginning with Wales?). Pitinosato against the odds, remains in the Cup (a bit like the real Germany - and the real England!) Fujiko will be playing for the Bowl. Refioji: Athenayama Jakusotsu (Norway) (1-2) Achiyama (Belgium) Refioji: Achiyama Kimyama (France) (1-0) Athenayama (Sweden) Refioji: Nekonishiki Baku (Spain) (2-2, 3-2 AET) Kaba (Finland)
Jakusotsu Posted July 20 Posted July 20 @Jejima Thanks, but it's still not clear for me whether Nekonishiki starts the second run with an unbroken chain. Is there any section in the rules that say so?

Is there any section in the rules that say so? If one or both players had an unbroken chain going through their entire line-up during 'normal time' (ending in a draw between the two players), then the extra time begins on the second run through from the first slot.
Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 (edited) Would that need further clarification for the rules? ...from the first slot, with both players' chains starting unbroken. maybe? Edited July 20 by Jejima

Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 Rules for the semi-finals The two real semi-final matches are broken into 'three' parts. a) the result of the first half b) the result of the second half c) the result of extra time (if no extra-time, this counts as a 'normal' 0-0 draw - even if it features a © or ® team. I.e. if a © or an ® team is allocated for the extra time slot, and NO extra time is played, the special rules are NOT applied, and the non-played extra time is treated as a 'normal' 0-0 draw) - Penalty shoot-outs are not included. This only includes goals scored in that time period. If team A is leading 3-0 at half time, but ends the match winning 3-1, team A has won the first half, but team B has won the second half. If team A is leading 1-0 at half time, but ends the match 1-1, then team A has won the first half, and team B has won the second half, with the match going into extra time. If team A is leading 1-0 at half time, and the match ends 1-0, then team A has won the first half, but drawn the second half. Remember, teams with special powers will have their special power used in the time period selected (with the exception that if extra time has been selected for the special power, but no extra time was actually played, then the results are considered as normal 'draws' without special powers). Players need to label which part of the match they are predicting. Remember that a player predicts for all parts of the match for the teams still on their roster. So if the player has all four teams, he will have 12 slots in total. Label as follows:- (1st) = first half, (2nd) = second half, (ET) = Extra time. Players need to highlight their (S1) and (S2) teams (from the previous two rounds - if still in) - by putting it by the first mention of that team in their line-up. The © and ® teams - if any players is lucky enough to still have them - have slightly different rules (new for this competition). You choose which part of the match (so 1st, 2nd or ET - remember if no extra time occurs, then any ® or © team in that slot is counted as a 'normal' draw. If extra time does occur, then ® and © teams in that slot get the 'special' powers.) to use your special ® or © powers. This power can only be used once - so choose carefully. For the other two time periods, they count as 'normal' teams. Players need to remember to indicate (just the once) which slot he intends to use the special powers. Normal time rules As for previous rounds. Extra time rules The chain restarts for extra time from the slot after the one that ended the normal time results. The game ends at the end of the first run through even if one or both chains remain unbroken. The game does not go back to the start for a second run-through.

Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 (edited) Remember that the line-up for the semifinals is a little different.... For example in the Semifinals of the Solar System Cup..... Saturn vs Haumea Jupiter vs Pluto Jejima: 1. Saturn (S) (2nd), 2. Saturn (1st), 3. Jupiter (ET), 4. Jupiter (C) (1st), 5. Pluto (ET), 6. Saturn (ET), 7. Pluto (2nd), 8. Pluto (1st), 9. Jupiter (2nd), 10. Haumea (R) (ET), 11. Haumea (1st), 12. Haumea (2nd) Comment: Although I wish my (R) team all the very best, I have to be realistic, and expect it to lose against pre-tournament favourites, Saturn. Some notes... Saturn is my substitute (hence the (S) by its first appearance in the line-up). Plucky Haumea is my (R) team. I do not expect Haumea to win during normal time - but (if red cards etc), it might have a chance in ET, so I am using its special (R) powers for extra time. However, if this match does not go to extra time, this result will count as a 'normal draw' for the purposes of the game - i.e. the chain will not be boken. Jupiter is my (C) team. I have decided to use its (C) power for the first half of the game - as I think the match against Pluto might start off a little nervy (goalless by half-time?), and I can't see Pluto taking the lead. Jupiter will therefore not have any special powers for the 2nd half and Extra Time parts of the game. Edit: One further reminder.... If you have allocated your (C) powers for the extra time part of the game, and the game does not go to extra time, this is treated as a 'normal' draw - so no goal can be scored. Jejima Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 Penalty Takers for the Finals Players need to predict the final finishing order of the four last teams. These predictions need to be submitted before the kick-off of the first Semi-final match. Players need to submit the order their predictions for the final positions of the remaining four teams.... 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and they also need to make a prediction for the time of the first goal in the finals. 3rd/4th placed teams As there is no 3rd place play-off match, for the purpose of the penalty shoot-out the third placed team is determined as the team that did best whilst losing in the semi-finals. This will be based on 90 mins, then 120 mins, then penalties. So, if one match goes to extra time, the losing team automatically defeats the team in the match that lost in normal time. Goal differences, goals scored etc will be taken into account. If it is impossible to separate the two semi-final losing teams, as they end up with identical losses, then no penalty goals will be awarded for either team. Time of first goal. If a player predicts 48 minutes (for example), that is the 3rd minute of the second half, and NOT the actual 48th minute, if the first half runs to three or more minutes of extra time. A player may choose the 48th minute of the first half, by choosing 45+3. The same applies to the end of normal time. A guess of 95 minutes would be for the fifth minute of the 30 minutes of extra time. A guess of 90+5 would be for the fifth minute added on to 'normal time'. This also applies for half-time in a 30 minutes added-on extra time. (116 minutes means the first minute of the second half of extra time. 115+1 means the first minute of added time in the first half of extra time.) For a prediction of the first goal to be scored in the second minute of added time in the second half of extra time, a player may guess 122 minutes, or 120+2 - as it's the same thing. If no goals are scored in normal and extra time, the first goal of the match will be considered to be the first penalty scored in a penalty shoot-out, and will count as '121 minutes'. A prediction of '46 minutes' (etc) will be considered to be the 1st minute of the second half, unless otherwise stated. (A prediction of '45 minutes' / '90 minutes' etc does not include the minutes after that number, being played in 'injury time' at the end of a half. If you wish to predict the second minute of 'injury time' in the first half, you need to say 45+2.) The penalty shoot-out will be as follows.... 3 penalty goals awarded for predicting the World Cup winner, 2 penalty goals for predicting the runner-up. 1 penalty goal for predicting the 'third placed team'. 0 penalty goals for the 'fourth placed team'. The sudden death starts after the first two slots (i.e with the third slot). If no winner can be determined during this time (NB, we do not go back to the first two teams), there is an extra penalty goal to be awarded to the player whose prediction of the time of the first goal in the match is the closest to the actual time of it being scored. This includes injury time. For example, player A predicts 44 minutes and player B predicts 48 minutes. The first goal was scored in the fifth minute of first-half injury time (45+5) out of a total six minutes of injury time played. Player B gets the extra penalty goal, because their prediction (1+3 minutes) is closer than Player A's (6). If a player predicts a time that did NOT happen, they are penalised for any extra fictional minutes, by having them added to the prediction. For example, the player predicted 45+6, but the first half only had an additional 2 minutes, the player is penalised by having the 4 fictional minutes added when seeing who is closest to the actual first goal.
