Akinomaki Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Ticket sales started and ended today - only the best masu seats and tamariseki were already sold out https://sumo.pia.jp/ticket03.jsp the rest was sold in the first minutes/hours of sales - the sales overview is not updated yet, but there are no remaining tickets to be found on the sales pages No special tickets sold or campaigns this time, tickets for the day as usual listed as undecided, usually somewhere already "there are none" is noted No poster yet, no extra PR needed any-more Edited March 8 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 I thought the dohyo matsuri won't be open for all this time, the fan club offers a lottery to allow watching it for the komusubi course members & above, those who pay for a year. https://fanclub.sumo.or.jp/contents/889984 But the fan club mail didn't mention the attached tour guided by oyakata, a regular tour they are doing for a while now, the dohyo matsuri itself will most likely be free and open to the public. Like last year, this year has again a mini jungyo Grand Front Osaka Umekita basho - many pics from last year http://www.lmaga.jp/news/2025/02/882250/ 8 sekitori, as usual especially Sadogatake, Kotozakura and the Tebakari brothers. Hira- and Sadanoumi from Sakaigawa, Nishikigi, Wakaikari and Gonoyama On March 2nd https://www.grandfront-osaka.jp/umekitabasho2025/ 1
Akinomaki Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 (edited) The gomen-fuda for the basho was put in place - the reduced Osaka-team (Hatachiyama is missing): Takasaki, Onomatsu, chief Isenoumi, Fuijigane o o o - some day Takakeisho should head this group vid Edited February 12 by Akinomaki 1

Akinomaki Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 Asanoyama today confirmed that he wants to enter the basho - he has to decide till before tomorrow morning, when the torikumi are compiled. o o o He was 6-5 with ms1w Ishizaki at training Kirishima wants to enter as well, neck and new right hip joint injured, but "it's not so bad that I'd have to go kyujo". He wasn't at a hospital and "Walking is no problem". http://www.sanspo.com/article/20250306-RCC5JKYT4VPYJIQWFBGWWVBPYE/ - I guess he drops out after 5 days Kotozakura is in "So-so" condition o - he'll clear kadoban, but won't be in the yusho race after day 5 Hoshoryu with injured elbow and freshly promoted - no yusho, but double digits ---- I go for an Aonishiki yusho or at least jun-yusho - he was closely following the path of Takerufuji, but got promoted to juryo one basho earlier, needed one more to reach makuuchi, so they at the same pace again. But without juryo yusho and now he is at m15e, while Takerufuji was at the proper makujiri m17e for his yusho. No double digits for Oho, Kinbozan, Takerufuji, Hakuoho - Onosato will be the one to finish top or runner-up.
Akinomaki Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 Only juryo Kitanowaka is kyujo from the start sumo.or.jp/ResultData/absence/ - but Osaka is usually the spring turmoil basho, I expect 5 more kyujo sekitori later on. Asanoyama wants do all 7 bouts: "The supporter gets to be my pal" o o Also Hoshoryu has a new friend like this - for most it is an old friend o 1
Akinomaki Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 The dohyo matsuri is again streamed live The explanation still says "This time without rikishi", as if there may come the time, when they will be there again - no reason at all though since last year that they are not there, so there is also no reason to expect them to reappear

Why are the rikishi no longer there? Why do you not expect them to be there again? I assumed it was always that way.

The sanyaku always attended the dohyo-matsuri, that stopped with Corona and though all Corona measures were abolished, this one remains. The NSK thus mentions each time that the rikishi are not attending that respective time. Edited March 7 by Akinomaki

I only started watching after Covid began, so it's always been this way for me. Thanks for the answer!
hakutorizakura Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Oh come on Hosh, that was disappointing. Not very surprising though.
Tigerboy1966 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I think that makes Hoshoryu the first yokozuna to lose his debut bout since Takanohana in January 1995. On the positive side, Takanohana then went on to a 13-2 yusho. 2
Kaninoyama Posted March 9 Posted March 9 1 minute ago, junsan said: To Abi? Really? Not that surprising. They were I think 11-6 prior to this encounter, and Abi can be a tough matchup for anyone when he gets separation from his opponent and uses long reach. And he's a former Grand Champion himself. 1

RabidJohn Posted March 9 Posted March 9 2 hours ago, junsan said: To Abi? Really? Hey, at least he hasn't given away a kinboshi yet. And Abi's always dangerous, which is why he's been in the joi/junior sanyaku for what feels like ages. My expectation for Hoshoryu is 10-11 wins, because yusho and promotion partying will have taken its toll. 3
code_number3 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Welcome to Yokozuna-hood, Hoshoryu. Hope you enjoy the ride!
nagora Posted March 9 Posted March 9 8 hours ago, junsan said: To Abi? Really? Abi is a tough opponent. One doesn't simply walk into Komusubi, you know.
Kishinoyama Posted March 9 Posted March 9 It won’t be any easier tomorrow for Hoshoryu. He has a losing record against his next opponent Wakatakakage.
Oskanohana Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Guys, don't get your panties in a bunch. Chiyoshoma looked like Chiyonofuji today disposing of none other than Taiho's offspring. The mongolian dominance is ensured for the foreseeable future with him. The Nephew's task is just keeping the seat warm for him. 2 7
Seiyashi Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Apropos of that bout, Ōhō lost more than Chiyoshōma won. The latter was just smart enough to know when to step aside.

Don't you recognise greatness when it stares you in the face? Those sweet movements, the graceful uwatenage and to top it of that hand on the back of the neck like the Wolf himself. Goosebumps, I says!
Kujo Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Like Gagamaru's perpetual ozeki run (I think he may still be running...) Chiyoshoma is only one henka away from becoming a yokozuna.... 1
