Unfortunately I did not have enough time to scan all of Sumoforum  but was there any kind of speculation on WTF is going on with Endo that I missed? If not... what's up? I mean it's understandable, I don't want to get up after I had a nice lie down either but still... kinda strange to take a nap in an arena full of people after a disappointing loss...

I heard about a concussion he suffered earlier this basho, but it was never confirmed officially.

He’s been like that since he got knocked on his butt by Kinbozan on Day 10, im thinking he landed on his tailbone and tweeked his back as well, hes moving like that before and after the matches.

I hope im wrong though.

Since day five I think when it looked like he got briefly knocked out by Hakuoho. It's been happening since then.

I checked the standings on day 4 and saw Takayasu was doing well but then he promptly lost his match that day so I immediately stopped watching the rest of the tournament and checking the forums because, per the rules of quantum sumo, as long as I am not aware of him, Takayasu can win. I gave him the best odds I could, but I wasn't going to miss senshuraku.

Given the possibility of infinite universes and timelines, there's at least one alternative reality where Takayasu is a Dai-Yokozuna and is considered the GOAT. In that timeline he has already won this yusho and is going for a zensho.

Any thoughts on sansho? Aonishiki, Takayasu, anybody else?

Tamawashi if win like last time. Churanoumi and Tokihayate conditionally, could be if win, could be if yusho.

That might be the reality where we all have wings and horns, I suppose.

Is it a real category? :-D

In another 5 years, he will get sansho for just being alive.

I think that's why they offered him one last time, but he lost on day 15 to finish 9-6. Kyokutenho got one back in 2014. It shows fighting spirit, no?

As mentioned last basho, Kyokutenho got one for getting 10 wins at basically the same age as Tamawashi was last basho.  This basho he's equaled his 9 win total from last basho, is in the top half of the division, and beat a Komusubi.  Given that he was kinda sorta in the yusho race too (losing to guys who are still in it the last couple days), I would vote to give a sansho to Tamawashi unconditionally.

"Snake-oil oyakata, former sekiwake Aminishiki"(thanks for that, Clancy), didn't even have to get to those 10.

Full sansho speculation:

Shukun-sho conditional on Yusho for all maegashira in contention

Gino-sho to Takayasu

Kanto-sho to Aonishiki

Kanto-sho to Tamawashi if he wins

A 39-year-old returning from Juryo after over a year there scoring a bare KK might be less impressive in the overall scheme of things, but it's surely about as unexpected.

We still haven't lived down the Tokushoryu yusho.

I've heard tell that Japan lost the war because they couldn't get over the Dewaminato yusho.

As absurd as it was, it was one of my favorite moments in my sumo viewing life. Especially when he acknowledged the absurdity of it himself during his yusho interview, saying: "Is it really OK for lil' old me to yusho?"

Aonishiki Kanto-Sho

Takayasu Gino Sho, my heart wants him to Yusho , but my brain knows its just rinse and repeat.

Aonishiki guarateed kanto-sho because of the de facto 10 wins as makuuchi debut. Takayasu guaranteed gino-sho.

Shukun-sho is quite something. Takayasu must get the yusho with 12 wins. Aonishiki, Tokihayate, Churanoumi will get the award should they get the yusho
