    • He won't win any bouts in 2025!
      0
  3. 3. Which of the following short shikona sekitori will Oho win MORE bouts than in total (i.e out of 90 - not the direct head-to-heads) in 2025. So if you think Oho will win 47 bouts (as he did in 2024), and rikishi A will win 40, vote 'yes'. You can vote as many times as you like.

Oho was born on St Valentine's Day, 2000 and was the very first rikishi born after January 1st, 2000 to become a sekitori.

His highest rank to date was M1E in November 2024.

How will he do in 2025? Will he make it to sanyaku? Or has he already peaked?

Please add a comment with as much prediction for Oho as you can. Comments are used for tie-breakers to decide yusho and jun-yusho winners.

I am going for Komusubi for Jan 2026 banzuke. I have a feeling that he will bounce between joi-jin and sanyaku in 2025.

I am predicting a kinboshi for Oho at some stage.

I am also predicting that he will do better than all of the other short shikona rikishi. :-)

I think he'll be a joi perennial but won't be good enough to end up in the sanyaku in January 2026 (though he may spend a basho or two in lower sanyaku during the year). I think he'll get at least a couple of kinboshi but will also get beaten by someone from the bottom of the banzuke. And I rating him as the best of the short shikona rikishi, though Abi might make me look silly here

16 players voted in this poll.

The majority of us see him being ranked in either the lower sanyaku or the joi-jin.

5/8 of us think that his highest ranked opponent that he will defeat will be an Ozeki - which he has already done at the time of writing (Day 5, January basho, against Ozeki Onosato).

Looking at the spread of votes, we think that he will do better than most of the other short shikona rikishi this year. Only Abi is more favoured (Meisei is tied.)

This was Oho's 2026....

Jan: M3W 12-3 JY (lost in play-off)
Mar: S1W 6-9
May: M1W 7-8 kinboshi
Jul: M2E 7-8 kinboshi
Sep: M2W 10-5
Nov: S1W 7-8
(Jan 2026: K1E?)

Q1: I think that Oho will probably be ranked as a Komusubi in January 2026. This was predicted by Yarimotsu, Fashiriteta, Shatsume, Jejima and I am the Yokozuna.

Q2: Oho defeated Yokozunas on three occasions (including by fusensho). Shatsume, Jejima and Morty got this correct.

Q3:
Oho won 49 times in 2025 - the same number as Shishi(!) He did better than all of the other short-shikonaed rikishi.

Ura - 45
Abi - 37
Endo - 22
Roga - 42
Kayo - 39
Shodai - 41
Oshoma - 43
Meisei - 33
Ryuden - 46
Shishi - 49

Scores out of 10....
3/10 - Sumo Spiffy, Shatsume, I am the Yokozuna
4/10 - just_some_guy, Athenayama
5/10 - Bunbukuchagama, Wakawakawaka
6/10 - Kintamayama, rokudenashi
7/10 - Pitinosato
8/10 - Yarimotsu, Fashiriteta, Shatsume, Benihana
9/10 - Jejima, Morty

The yusho goes to Jejima (Yushowinner...), Jun-yusho to Shatsume (Secondprize...). Morty collects a Fighting Spirit Special Prize (Showingrespect...) .
