I went to all five days of the London Basho there in October 1991.
I saw Hakkaku when he was still Hokutoumi, Isegahama was Asahifuji, and Takadagawa was Akinoshima. 
Akebono was a sekiwake, Wakahanada upper maegashira (little bro was kyujo) and Mainoumi was so smol!

Fabulous experience, so if you get the chance, go.

Could it be a koen vs. Jungyo thing? It seems there were only 38 sekitori in Hawaii. They are calling this a koen. (When Sadogatake came here in 2006 I called it a Cohen..) In any case, I'm only the translator..

jungyo are sponsored by local organizers, while koen are more akin to cultural performances set up by the JSA itself.

I read that there's a news conference in London on Wednesday. Did they release any information about when and where it's going to be?

Speaking as a person who attends several press conferences each week, and been going to them on and off for numerous sports since 1992, I can't recall any ever being open to the public.

Thank you! I wouldn't expect it to be open to the public. I work in news and I'd be interested in flagging it to colleagues who cover sport or London events in case (as I suspect) it wasn't on their radar. I was just wondering whether Japanese media had reported anything specific about the news conference (e.g. at the embassy / Japan House etc). Not a big deal, though. It's mostly personal excitement and FOMO ahead of this long awaited return!

I'm in the JSA Kisha Club and we haven't been given any info on it yet that I'm aware of.

If the presser is taking place in London we may not get info on it until just before. Could be a zoom link for us or nothing at all. I don't know if it's still the RAH holding it or if it's the same organiser as in the originally planned event a couple of years back.
