Noticed while watching the first two days of NHK broadcast:

There seems to be another Russian kid getting ready to enter Oozumou. Both days I noticed him in the Hanamichi talking to Rohou while he was getting ready for his match. The kid was wearing sports atire and after Rohou's match would get up to go with him to the Shitakubeya.

I've seen the kid this year at the European Junior Sumou Championships this year, he competed in the open or heavyweight and was OK.

So maybe soon, there's gonna be news about him joining another Heya.

Could it be Atilla Toth the Hungarian? We know he is joining Chiganoura-beya in January and that he has arrived in Japan.

Yes size usually does seem to be the "almighty" ticket to a shot in pro-zumo wonder why so many Oyakata are willing to accept foreigners????

No, it isn't him. This kid is Russian, I could even look up his name since I remember him distinctly from the Juniors as he's quite a big kid for 18, much bigger than the Hungarian.

The lad meeting Roho in the hanamichis was ID'd today (day 4) as the Hungarian by Katrina Watts on NHK. (Eating...)

Looked big. (Applauding...)

On the other hand it seems I've been mistaken too, since I saw his face today and it's not the Russian kid from Open category from the Europeans. Sorry about that...  (Scratching chin...)

I finally saw him today and he did look as tall as Roho but then he looked rather slim. Perhaps he is a Hungarian kid Kinta-zeki mentioned as he may be learning Japanese with Roho before he starts Mae-zumo as I know he won't be able to join Otake Beya as one foreign born per heya. But I am not sure why he was doing a Tsukebito duty for him - must be in the same Ichimon.

Well, the Hungarian is slated to join the new Chiganoura beya, which doesn't belong to Nishonoseki Ichimon, where Otake beya resides, so it may be some guy we are unaware of.

Could be one of the ladies from the NHK broadcast - they sometimes (often?) use the 'and when I was in the hanamichi talking to so and so' / and while in the shitakubeya yesterdayhaving a laugh with blahdy blah...' :-D one or twice per basho. Question is which one?

Actually, our own SF member Lynn M was pointed out by the main commentator (Murray J?) yesterday sat next to the hanamichi as Azuma got ready. The guest was Doreen and all she could say was something like 'oh yeah'. (Spooky TV program...) Not very friendly.

Still who is the alien hanamichi stalker?

I think it was Lynn on day 2 who actually gave credit to someone on SML for some info she quoted! (Spooky TV program...)

Haven't heard much from her since she joined/advertised with us :-/

Actually it wasn't a lack of her will.

She indicated to me by e-mail, she had not figured out how to post/reply since she managed to post her first post - and it was more like miracle and prayer she was able to do.

Lynn posted several posts about the Rijicho and sexual harassement thing on the mailing list and I suggested to her that she would to do the same here but she said she was totally lost and couldn't figure out how to put a reply on the thread.

She is extremely busy at the moment in Fukuoka interviewing certain oyakatas and rikishis so I doubt she would be able to have any time to sit down and post for the next little bit.

Isn't the NHK English done in Shibuya Tokyo though? Know she was in Fukuoka yesterday but perhaps she came back. Couple of terms used in the NHK English today included 'you could just reach into the TV and...' IIRC which sounded somewhat detached.

Lynn did get in a couple of promos of her paintings I feel. Dave W gave her a brief promo but far from obvious. Matsuoka mentioned she couldn't talk to Shoryu till she had a painting to give to him though - something else on Chiyonofuji too.

She does have a website...either some technical ability or someone who helps. :-) If you can post once... (Hugging...)

I for one would like to have her involved in the discussions - she must have some interesting insight given her background :-D

Lynn is back in Tokyo now so she may get a bit of more time...hope she can as I did send a rudimentary instruction on how to use the Forum.

FWIW - the commentary is / was done in Tokyo - Lynn's day was no exception. Shibuya NHK I understand.

She was in Fukoka talking to certain rikishis and oyakatas. Actually she was shown on TV during the sumo broadcast when Doreern commented something like "Yeah". I am not sure she flew back to Tokyo but likely.
