I know I’m behind schedule, but I’m glad that Aoiyama is retiring and staying with the Kyokai. He’s been my favorite since I started watching sumo around 10 years ago. It will be satisfying to see him grow as an oyakata.

Aoiyama has no intai-zumo, his danpatsu-shiki will be on Sep. 7th at the kokugikan event floor, for related people he invited

I don't see it, I think it is just the fact that his face and hands remain enlarged as these areas lose fat much slower than the rest of the body.

While his hands do look somewhat uncanny, compared to the other guys he seems almost disoriented. Perhaps it is his old stoic rikishi facade clashing with this new youthful appearance, because he does seem more happy and healthy when passionately talking about sumo. But in still photos like this he looks more worrying than healthy.

I hope I'm wrong but something is not right there. And I remember those weird spasm attacks he had in the past.

I already raised concerns a few weeks ago. Going from extreme to extreme in such a short time is not healthy.

I remember seeing photos of him with his wife (I think at a Narutobeya event) just rambling down the street -- she looked just like a regular "citizen".  Now she's all dolled up as an okamisan -- cool!  [He looks much better, too, prob. losing some weight].

I had seen him at that time on commentary and he was glowing. As of late, however, he's truly looking extremely frail and sick as pointed out above. Something is not right.
