So, why was Shonannoumi the 'correct' pick for day 3? I wish to learn!

Another way of looking at it, in this particular case, is that until Takayasu went kyujo, we knew Ura would be the third maegashira in line of those not getting sanyaku matchups. Therefore, the first two would get matched up, and Ura would get the one after that. He only starts getting pulled into higher rank matchups if the two ahead of him already fought each other. So, he'd have gotten Tobizaru if the two leftover were Gonoyama and Tobi, but since it was (supposed to be) Takayasu and Tobi, Ura would have had the next guy down.

Now I have set my Intrasanyaku pairings (which I hold for the best),
and my old thought said to me:

Ura's partner for day 4 should be Shonnanoumi.

BTW Yesterday I didn't  know that Takayasu goes kyujo.
But I find it fine that this is a game among the life.
and not all is predictable.

So it is a game!

Careful calculation and I get.....

4. Shonannoumi (why are so many predicting Atamifuji?)

(I am feeling like England in the Euros... bumbling along, not playing as well as others, yet still being in the mix for the championship!)

I'm guessing y'all have different sanyaku matchups than the rest of us. If you have an ozeki in the intra-sanyaku matchups, then Shonannoumi makes sense. If you don't, Atamifuji becomes much more likely.

I'll just assume that everyone that got that right was successful in predicting Takayasu's kyujo.  I don't want to know if you just lucked into it.

4. Atamifuji

I'm genuinely torn between Meisei and Takakeisho. There's a logical method to play the whole basho out nice and clean, and then there's what they've done recently, and I can't decide which way I think they'll go.

This is the proof:

I am too old for the game

before midnight I wrote:

Takanosho!

But now I can find it.

and it is to late

But I love this game!

Now my flabber is gasted - why does the M2 bout happen before the M4 bout? Mitakeumi would have been my choice for Takakeisho. Nice call by the leaders!
