In the off chance we've got readers who are struggling and unaware of it, I feel like I have to go off-topic and clarify this.

People don't "look" depressed. It's perfectly common for deeply depressed people to look normal and smile regularly. You can still experience moments of joy, and times where you're relaxed.

None of us can get into his head at the moment, but it's equally possible that the weight of the world is off his shoulders and his overwhelming emotion is relief that he is now free from the shackles of the Kyokai. 

We'll find out more about his state of mind tomorrow.

It's obvious you mean well and I really appreciate that.
But as a person who's been chronically depressed (officially diagnosed) for decades I have to disagree somewhat. I do look depressed quite often and I'm not the only one. Yes, it's true that there are depressed people who seem normal, even cheerful, but a quick search confirms this is atypical, especially when deeply depressed like you mentioned. There's only so much energy left for every day and while you can use it for "masking" (= hiding how you actually feel), this is extremely draining. You also have to get out of bed and somehow function like a regular adult. Some may (still) be able to do both but many can't anymore.
Plus, one of the most common symptoms of depression is anhedonia (again, not all of them have it), which simply put is the inability to feel joy and pleasure; and for the life of me I can't remember the last time I've felt relaxed... Depression truly is a witch with a b and I don't wish it on anyone.
Sorry for this  rant and I don't mean it as harsh as it might sound

The point made above you is the opposite: that you don't have to look depressed to be depressed.  Not all people suffering depression "look" depressed, and feelings of depression are no less valid if you can put on a happy face in public or even find fleeting joy.  Many people have their depression (or pain, or other chronic conditions) discounted because they don't "look" like they're suffering.  

(Also, not all people that "look depressed" are: sometime people are just sad/grieving/etc.)

I'll miss Hakuho.  His enthusiasm and love for sumo will be missed by the JSA, even if they don't miss the man.

He'll be focused on launching an international Sumo Grand Slam, which is to be an amateur event, NOT a professional league as was previously speculated. Toyota likely to be a sponsor. Competition to have weight classes as well as be open to female competitors.

I've said this before elsewhere but not on the forum yet, so I might as well: I'm really not sure how the logistics of that are supposed to work. Many national federations and the amateur wrestlers themselves are struggling to fund their attendance at the existing international tournaments as it is. Are Hakuho/Toyota/other sponsors going to pay for travel and accommodation for hundreds of participants (potentially annually), for pretty much no monetary and likely also very little intangible returns? If they don't, this thing either fails in short order or it severely disrupts the IFS's World Championships because many people will be forced to choose between the two events. In the worst-case scenario it first does the latter and then the former.

Interesting to hear them say that the ex-Miyagino wrestlers have improved in the rankings since they joined Isegahama, due to a stricter training regime. I'm not sure the results bear this out, even if you discount the retirees.

Hakuoho, Enho, Kawazoe and Chikuba have come back up the ranks from injury, but you can't really say they've improved.

Tenshoho and Onokura have stayed the same.

Matsui has made a little progress, but not perhaps as much as you might expect from a Ms60TD.

Seihakuho has improved but I think he was expected to, and his record only starts after the move.

From the record anyway, the only one that really looks to have improved is Senshoho.

I think they were thinking of Kusano, who actually would have joined Miyagino, but it was too late

I thought it was mentioned that Hakuho would start off with some amateur events before eventually creating a pro league with the athletes of the amateur leagues. Did I misunderstood that at some point or was that said?

Don't think I've seen it mentioned so far but in both Hakuho's press conference and the interview, Isegahama (now Miyagino) indicated that the main reason for assuming the Miyagino name was to eventually pass it on to one of the Miyagino rikishi (Enho, Hakuoho, Kusano?) and so keep the link from Hakuho to them alive, assuming any of them become worthy of it, and that this was Hakuho's expressed hope as well.

Maybe, he's certainly the biggest mover. I took them to be making a more general point though, and as you say, Kusano wasn't on the banzuke at Miyagino at all so there's no contrast there.
