Kitanowaka is shin-Maku, after 11 bashos plying his trade in Juryo.

M14W Seiyashi puts his hopes on M14E Tomokaze.

Tomokaze was once ranked in the joi-jin, before missing a year of sumo, to drop down to Jonidan. This will be his first active basho back in the top division after 3 years.

K2E Oshirokita has secured himself J2W Shimazuumi.

Shimazumi is at his career high, and is knocking on the door to Makunouchi. So, no pressure then.

M10W Kotononami has drawn M2W Meisei.

Meisei seems to reside in the joi-jin or lower sanyaku.

K1W Flohru has been given.... J8W Tokihayate.

This is Tokihayate's highest ever rank.

O1W Kaba will spin for himself.... he gets... M3W Tobizaru.

My youngest declares himself to be 'not happy'.

M15W Benihana takes J1E Aoiyama.

It has been 5 years since Aoiyama was (briefly for one basho) in Juryo, and 12 years since Aoiyama was 'properly' a Juryo rikishi on his way up. Such veterans usually either bounce right back up with a decent record, or do poorly as they begin their swan song bashos. At least, that's how I remember the past....

M9W Reonito will have M1W Ura.

This is Ura's highest ever rank, although Ura has spent quite a bit of time in the joi-jin over the past two years.

M17E Sakura will need a big result from J3W Oshoma.

Oshoma's previous 4 bashos have been ranked at J4.

M3E Sumo Spiffy rounds out the draw (for now) with M16E Roga.

This is the shin-maku debut for Roga, who is on a 10-basho KK roll.

So, that ends the draw, although, late entries from @Takanorappa, @Holleshoryu and @Henshū-sha would be accepted and allowed.

On one hand, I should be relieved that WMH is on a 7-basho KK streak, but for the last couple of tournaments I've been thinking that surely it's got to end at some point... let's hope it's not this one...

So, as usual with the Yokozuna of late, Getayukata will have to wait until the shonichi torikumi is published before she will know if another draw will need to be made for her.

Looks like Terunofuji is out for this basho, so Getayukata needs a replacement.

Sumo database is down, so I can't give any insights into this pick at present.....  Is it a good one?
