A post by @Jakusotsu just gave me the idea of this thread. I don't know if it has been created already here but I made a quick search and didn't find any.
This is the place where all of you could share your preferred TV shows or film musical themes with or without comments !
It's too late for me to post some now, I'll do it at some point later this week end.

Oops - sorry - wrong clip in the board - what I was really listening to was this. (Blushing...)

You kept it for so long to throw it at my face at some point?? (Laughing...)

A first part with TV shows, will probably be followed by others (more will come to my mind for sure), including also movies.
Some scores are also linked to the atmosphere of the episode they're part of so they might not "talk to you" as they do to me. Personal tastes of course.

Oldies :

The Persuaders : here
Centennial : here
Mannix : here
Shogun : here
Magnum : here
Columbo (just one theme I like) : here

Sci Fi :

Battestar Galactica (2004 version), to me the best Sci Fi show ever. So many good themes in the soundtrack. I chose this one inspired by "All Along The Watchtower".
here 1
here 2
Defiance : here

I'm mainly into classical music, and film music for me is the continuation of that, while contemporary classic is no music.

I think I'll post regularly in this thread, e.g. my favorite Bond themes and songs

1. John Barry - On Her Majesty's Secret Service - I guess the version as the film theme song is not allowed here as offensive, so just audio

2. Switching The Body - The John Barry Orchestra (from Thunderball)

3. If There Was A Man - The Pretenders (from The Living Daylights)

4. The Living Daylights - A-Ha

5. Live And Let Die - Paul McCartney & Wings

Not a TV show, but Sid Meier's Civilization series usually has great Music. Civ 4's theme is above (the original theme is in this playlist). I never realised that Christopher Tin actually composed Baba Yetu for Civ 4 and it won a Grammy.

EDIT: Though the Lyrics, I think, are The Lord's Prayer.

I don't have Civ V but I have Civ 6 and the main theme is once again composed by Christopher Tin, but with Lyrics by Leonardo da Vinci. :-)

My all-time favorite science fiction movie is Blade Runner, the original one from 1982, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford.  The music was composed and performed by Vangelis.  I especially like the music in the end titles.

Forgot those two, along with the fabulous TRON:Legacy O.S.T. by Daft Punk.

That's one of my favorites, too.

If the music is great, I can watch a film over and over again (if it's short enough, not the trilogy), otherwise once is enough.

One soundtrack that is especially great in this respect for me is that of ROBOCOP

And several by great composers:

- Henry Mancini - Arabesque - my favorite parts: Arabesque - Shower of Paradise - The Zoo Chase

- John Barry - The Black Hole - favorite part: Zero Gravity

Even one great piece in a film makes me love it:

- Nino Rota - Romeo and Juliet: What Is A Youth - By Glen Weston

- Ryuichi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence

And a great film with a great opening is the ultimate experience

Fed Zinnemann's A Man for All Seasons, score by Georges Delerue: opening

I will think some more on this, but the following is a must:

(Theme from Harry's Game)

[They also sang one of the best themes from a movie, I Will Find You from Last of the Mohicans]

Yes, love that one.

Another Clannad tv theme (which got me to go down the Clannad and Enya rabbit hole way back when) is 'Robin, the Hooded Man' from the fantasy series Robin of Sherwood.

Another one of my faves where you only have to listen to the first 2 notes to instantly identify which movie it's from.  I still remember the day many years ago when the movie first opened in the theaters.  It was playing in the auditorium next door to our auditorium where we were watching a different movie.  Suddenly, we heard blood-curdling screams coming from the audience next door!!!!  Had NEVER heard anything like that, before or since.

As for movie music, one of my favourites is from the 1975 version of Rollerball (do NOT watch the remake!) which includes lots of Classical and other music. The theme of lost love shook me emotionally when I saw this on late, late night tv when I was young, played to Albinoni's Adagio.

Very touching music.  Not a word was spoken by anyone.  The music said it all...

(Theme from Harry's Game)

Before Ray Lonnen was in Harry's Game he was a spy in the Sandbaggers tv series. Although the opening theme is iconic, the closing credits theme is even better with its mournful saxophone overlying the motif.

I won't post them here but two movie soundtracks that I purchased to listen to again and again are:

Basil Pouledoris - Conan the Barbarian (epic)

Alan Silvestri - Predator 2 (underrated)

Joe Hisaishi's music for the Ghibli anime blockbusters is also among my favorites, especially the soundtracks of these 2, for which the films are also among those I like best

Nausicaä

Mononoke-hime

About anime I had posted already in another thread, one from Ghibli included

And from a minor favorite, I recently found that it is excellent to give you some genki energy, Isao Sasaki: Uchuu Senkan Yamato - speedy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruMKYiLlQxw, powerful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR2Jfo9m7g0, now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIV9bMIF_70

Adding to that the song of the same name  from Tonari no Tottoro (Mika Arisaka)
