Kintamayama Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 The new number 2 man in the Kyokai will be Michinoku Oyakata, "senior executive manager". The judging department will now be led by two Oyakatas- Isegahama and Sadogatake. Sakaigawa will be in charge of the Kyushu basho. Kasugano will be in charge of jungyo and other stuff. Dewanoumi- in charge of the Nagoya basho. Shibatayama continues to be head of PR. Hanakago will be in charge of crisis management, the Compliance committee and the training institute. Newcomer Isenoumi will be in charge of the Osaka basho. 1 1
Seiyashi Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 I wonder if this signals that Sadogatake is in line to be shimpanbuchō after Isegahama retires (less than 4 years from now), although a co-head rather than a deputy seems to be a new way of doing things...?

I think Isegahama only has two years left, so this sort of arrangement makes some sort of sense.

Isegahama started that way in which he now ends. In turn the second vice shimpan slot held by vice riji Matsugane (ex-Wakashimazu) has been eliminated. It's the second time they're going with two chiefs and one deputy instead of the customary setup the other way around - the previous one with Kokonoe and Tomozuna saw an untimely end after just half a year due to the gambling scandal.that's tied to the shimpan position. 1

I know he's had a challenging couple of years having to be the public face of the kyokai's pandemic response and associated crises (and perhaps this is why he remains in the role), but he's made some disappointing comments and I wonder if there's someone else who might be a bit more media savvy who could take it on.
Akinomaki Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 (edited) New riji Isenoumi and Sadogatake had an online press conference o o The new rijikai - as a rough outline, I found no better photo. New riji and deputies in the back, and Hanakago as lowest in rank of the old. Without external riji, they stay the same. o overview with duties o Edited March 31, 2022 by Akinomaki 2

There are only 3 head shimpan needed for the last 3 shifts, which are headed by the top of the department. Fujishima is expected to be in the torikumi and banzuke compiling committees, but no longer at the dohyo. He was the best, but Kumegawa and Sadogatake will likely produce better decisions than what we saw/heard from Nishikido and Takashima in the past. Nishonoseki will likely be in a shift with Asakayama (Kaio). http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202204050000715.html That he will no longer appear as commentator on NHK might spare Takayasu the jinx and a critical loss next time Edited April 23, 2022 by Akinomaki 2
