As a vintage car enthusiast I've had some detailed visual and even tactile contact. Surprisingly, old models aren't as expensive as I expected, and even "normal" people can own them. At least in Czechia. Never sat in one, though.

I've seen one many times, especially in the UK. Akiseyama of the cars- a bit sluggish, a bit bulky.

I'll come at this from another angle - I think of them more as manufacturers of airplane engines.

Same in Germany. But you get, what you pay for.

I hitch-hiked a lift in a Rolls Royce going to my university. The driver (who gave me the ride - in full uniform) was the chauffeur for the family of the people who owned Everest double glazing. 

So, I was dropped off (with my rucksack) at my university gates by a chauffeur driven Rolls.

Not bad, eh?

Drove a Silver Shadow RR once, encouraged by the owner. Petrified when he asked me to parallel park it in a small spot on a busy street in the center of The Hague. It was surprisingly easy! 

More frequently, I piloted planes powered by RR engines.

Got to ride in one when I was a wee little boy. Visited some very much more well-heeled distant relatives. I was too young to understand how big a deal that was, until I grew up and saw what they go for

Visited a church in Llangattock-Vibon-Avel, near Monmouth, Wales a while back. Noticed a particularly nice grave with a Celtic cross, it belonged to Charles Rolls (of Rolls-Royce fame) who was killed in 1910 (I believe the first British person to die in a plane crash).
