Jejima Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 I have received penalty takers from everyone for the finals now - and even an extra one from someone competing in the Saucer final. (I already had the Saucer Final penalty takers!). Many thanks everyone.
Jakusotsu Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 All line-ups received, and all are in order - well played, guys! They'll be published shortly before kick-off to allow for possible changes of mind.

Chijanofuji Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 4 hours ago, Jejima said: Apart from the Italy 1st, of course. Yes, that's the same for both Shounokuni and me. Just to be clear, I'm betting on a draw after tonight's first half of Italy v Spain (which is quite likely statistically), that's why I'm using my (C) slot for Spain (1st half) there. I expect Italy to come out on top after 90 minutes, and they could also possibly lead after the first half (which is now irrelevant in our match) so that why I have their 1st half in slot 2 and their 2nd half in slot 3.... I expect England to beat Denmark tomorrow after 90 minutes, but now I'm obviously strongly rooting for the Danes to defy my prediction...

Jakusotsu Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Both of "my" matches are featuring uncanny similarities: both have identical teams on each side, both have only one slot in common, which is England (2nd) in slot #1, and both times it's not discarded because of special team status - what are the odds?! Good luck to both players! Does this take into account that each half is treated as separate? For example, if England are leading 2-0 at half-time, but Denmark score one goal in the second half, so the result ends up as 2-1 to England, and an England win. But for the purposes of this game, the first half is considered as a win to England, and the second half as a win to Denmark. I think that eventuality could break the Matrix? But for the purposes of this game, the first half is considered as a win to England, and the second half as a win to Denmark. I think that eventuality could break the Matrix? As far as I can tell it does take that into account. We'll go through your example to double-check... If England lead at halftime - follow Godango's top matrix. Then in that matrix choose one of the tree scenarios depending on the result after 90 minutes. So in your example where Denmark only scores 1 goal in the 2nd half, England wins after 90 minutes, so choose the option on the left "ENG Win in regular time". Result "Shounokuni wins"! And if I calculate this example "the regular way" - bearing in mind I already have draws in slots 1-6, while Shounokuni already has draws in slots 2, 4 and 7: Shounokuni scores 1-0 in slot one because of England's win after 90 minutes, but neither chain breaks (I have my (C) team there with a draw). In slot 2 Shounokuni and I both have exactly the same, so no change, and neither chain breaks. In slot 3 - no extra time for Shounokuni's (C) Denmark, counts as a draw, none of us score, and neither chain breaks. In slot 4 Shounokuni and I both have draws, none of us score, and neither chain breaks. In slot 5 - no extra time for Shounokuni's England, counts as a draw, none of us score, and neither chain breaks. In slot 6 Shounokuni scores 2-0 because of England's lead after the 1st half, neither chain breaks. In slot 7 Shounokuni's Italy ET does not score because of the draw, my Denmark 1st does not cost me an extra goal, but my chain does break because of it! This would secure the win for Shounokuni. In slot 8 we would both have a loss, no extra goal scored for Shounokuni And finally in slot 9 Shounokuni's Denmark 2nd gets a loss because Denmark did not lead after the 2nd half, and his chain is broken by my Denmark ET (which counts as a draw because the game did not go to ET) So if I did this correctly in your example Shounokuni would win by 2-0 and the game ended in regular time, so no extra time rules would be applied.... Jejima Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Okay, I don't think the Matrix covers all of the possibilities. Try this for size.... Denmark are winning 3-0 at half-time. Denmark wins the match 3-2 at full time.

It says - DNK Lead at Half-time => follow the right option. DNK win OR draw after regular time => Chijanofuji Wins! But by the manual method: Slot 1 => 1-0 for Shounokuni's England (2nd) - but my chain does not break (because of my teams "C powers"! Slot 2=> no extra score, both exactly the same. Slot 3=> we both have a draw at that slot, Shounokuni's Denmark ET (C) powers mean he scores 2-0, but both chains remains unbroken. Slots 4 and 5 we both would have draws here, no scores and both chains remains unbroken. Slot 6 => no goals score, but Shounokuni's loss at that slot (England 1st) and my draw (Spain ET) -means his chain breaks and my chain remains unbroken. Slot 7 => I score 2-1 because of Shounokuni's draw (Italy ET) and my win (Denmark 1st) at that slot (and my chain unbroken). Slot 8 => we both have a win here, no change (and my chain unbroken). Slot 9 => Shounokuni has a win here (Denmark 2nd), while I have a draw (Denmark ET, did not occur, so counts as a draw), - situation 8 - my chain breaks at the final slot, game over! Final score would be 2-1 to Shounokuni, and the game does not go to extra time! So yep, you're right! Godango's matrix does not cover this situation! Great catch, Jejima-san! I now see that I got slot 8 completely wrong as I forgot to change my Denmark 2nd to a loss.... At that slot Shounokuni has Denmark 1st - a win. I have Denmark 2nd - a loss. And as we're in situation 7 - that means my chain breaks there and the game ends. Still 2-1 to Shounokuni though....
Atenzan Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Asked Shounokuni, whom I've been texting during matches this tournament, if losing the Saucer final would be an acceptable price to pay to see England play in the final. "Yes", came the instant reply. "That's only because you're English", I said. "At least I've seen my national team win something before." Shounokuni hasn't replied yet. 2
Jakusotsu Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 The actual matches in Wembley have been way more entertaining than the results suggest. Let's see how our games were affected. Bowl Semifinals Match 2: Jejima 0:1 Pitinosato (England) (Netherlands) England ® (2nd) D x:0 D England (2nd) England (1st) D x:1 W England (ET) Spain (ET) D x:0 D England (1st) Spain (2nd) D x:0 D Italy (S1) (1st) Italy (1st) D x:0 D Italy (S1) (2nd) Spain (1st) D x:0 D Italy (S1) (ET) Italy (ET) D x:0 D Spain (ET) Italy (2nd) D x:0 D Spain (2nd) England (ET) W x:0 D Spain (1st) Jejima's chain was broken right from the start due to his R-status, and Pitinosato utilized that advantage by scoring in slot 2, advancing to the Bowl finals with a 1:0 victory in regular time. But Jejima shouldn't fret all too much. I have it on good account that Pitinosato would have won the penalty shoot-out anyway if England didn't get lucky in extra time. Cup Semifinals Match 2: Godango 2:0 Djodjoyoshi (Hungary) (Poland) England © (2nd) D 1:0 D England (S1) (2nd) England (1st) D 0:0 D Italy (2nd) England (ET) W 1:0 D England (S1) (1st) Italy (ET) D 0:0 D Italy (1st) Italy (1st) D 0:0 D Denmark (1st) Italy (2nd) D 0:0 D Denmark (2nd) Denmark (ET) L x:0 D Italy (ET) Denmark (1st) D x:x L Denmark (ET) Denmark (2nd) D x:x W England (S1) (ET) Unlike Jejima above, Godango actually benefitted from the special team in slot one, scoring a goal with his C-Team. Another goal in slot 3 sealed the deal, letting him advance to the Cup finals with a 2:0 victory in regular time - congratulations, and good luck there! And good luck to Djodjoyoshi for winning a different kind of silverware instead. 1
