This Covid thing has made me make updates to my databases.  Somehow I was foolish enough to only allow Hatsu, Haru, Natsu, Nagoya, Aki, Kyushu instead of November, March, and July...

Osaka native and Osaka/Haru basho responsible Fujigane (Daizen) can't sleep anymore because his basho is not at home and the presents to be sold in Osaka pile up for 2 years. I guess if we don't have them in Haru we won't in Natsu either, at least one of them

Kakuryu declared he will be in "Of course" - having a cold now for 3 weeks (that caused him to skip the rest of joint keiko): "If it's just a cold I think it will heal" http://www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/sports/sumou/2836989/

What are the chances they don't let Kakuryu wrestle with a sniffle? I assume he's tested negative for COVID, but this is also an era when it's not trendy to be sick in public.

I guess in Kakuryus case it's either do or get a cold. Or a back ache. Or a scratched toe. 

Wonder if he's tried getting covid on purpose? That'd let him skip this basho with no questions asked.

He has his citizenship now so I’m sure he would rather retire and keep earning a salary than get COVID to skip another basho

Yeah, I'm aware that he got the citizenship which makes me wonder even more why is he dragging this out. I suppose he wants to be on the dohyo one last time, but he could've done that in January.

The torikumi for days one and two will be announced tomorrow, Saturday the 13th. Reason-waiting for the final PCR tests after 2 oyakata were found positive yesterday and the fear that they might have been in close contact with rikishi and maybe infected them as well. Small problem- Onoe beya, to which the infected Otowayama Oyakata belongs, announced on their Facebook page that the whole heya will be kyujo, without consulting the Kyokai. "It seems like they wrote on Facebook that they are all kyujo, but the people that live outside of the heya will not be kyujo. It seems they just went and arbitrarily announced this but no final decision has been made yet, so going public on social media like this is troubling," said Shibatayama Oyakata.

Given that Hakuho will take part in the Spring Tournament, fans will finally be treated to a Yokozuna dohyoiri again!  The main question is who will serve as his attendants, his his protégés Enho and Ishiura are both down in the Juryo Division.  My guess is Midorifuji will get the nod as tachimochi and Kaisei as tsuyuharai.

I would have thought that Takarafuji would be tachimoshi. He's done this job for Hakuho quite a few times.
