We also have one Kokonoe rikishi at each rank from M13 to M17 (I may have mentioned this at the end of the last basho that it was likely to happen, but that feels like years ago).  They will end up facing, on average, higher-ranked rikishi than those on the other side of the banzuke from them, since they have 4 near them in rank they would normally face that they can't.

Okay this is the spoilers thread! Hoshoryu v. Ichinojo was much more exciting than I was expecting. Love the new Takakeisho Yakult kesho mawashi. It was really strange to hear clapping instead of vocalizing during the yokozuna dohyo iri.

Tochinoshin lifted Shimanoumi after he couldn't quite stick his initial throw attempt. Looked better today but I'll wait to see him up against stronger competition
