I lived in Japan from October 1998 for nearly two years, so most of those names were staples on my time there. It’s so interesting to remember a time before Wakanohana and Musashimaru were Yokozuna, Kaio was ozeki, and when Musoyama was still active. 1
WAKATAKE Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Hakuho in a phone interview expressed relief that the Olympics have been delayed rather than cancelled. It has given him more reason to continue into 2021. https://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202004270000633.html 1

Chanko Thief Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 It sounds like with the current pandemic climate, Hakuho will have the chance to mend some old wounds and get his body feeling much better so that he can continue through next year. I hope he does find a way to alleviate the injuries/strain on his body as I would imagine he must be in quite a bit of pain from all of his years in sumo.

Covid or not, as a yokozuna, he can choose to sit out two (or more) bashos with no penalty. Two bashos would give him six months of healing time.

Ten months in the bacta tank shall work wonders. 3
