Rainoyama Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Kagayaki has always been average and has 0 charisma, how does he get more is beyond me

I see, so I guess pretty much every kensho was fixed because of the other rikishi and since he is winning more than usual this time he is cashing in

Maybe Kagayaki has 1 or 2 each day from a personal sponsor and Asanoyama not. Could be the fault of Takasago, could be that Asanoyama has only local support so far.

Presumably if he had a fixed number of kensho from a personal sponsor, he would be seeing X number of kensho each and every day. 1
Akinomaki Posted November 19, 2019 Author Posted November 19, 2019 Asanoyama??? Day 10 142: Hakuho 101: Takakeisho 41: Mitakeumi 39: Endo 33: Abi 28: Shohozan 28: Myogiryu 25: Takarafuji 23: Kagayaki 22: Takayasu 22: Daieisho 1

Amamaniac Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Ryuden jumped up to the 5th spot with a haul of 19 kensho for his henka victory over Takakeisho in the bout with the most kensho of the day (thanks to the Ozeki having the most personal kensho in this tournament). Talk abut incentivising henka.
Akinomaki Posted November 22, 2019 Author Posted November 22, 2019 Day 13 191: Hakuho 142: Takakeisho 61: Endo 53: Mitakeumi 42: Ryuden 37: Abi 35: Kotoshogiku 32: Myogiryu 31: Asanoyama 31: Shohozan 1
Akinomaki Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 Day 14 221: Hakuho 142: Takakeisho 68: Endo 59: Abi 53: Mitakeumi 42: Ryuden 36: Asanoyama 35: Myogiryu 35: Kotoshogiku 31: Daieisho 31: Shohozan 1
Amamaniac Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 I know kensho distribution isn't supposed to be fair (i.e., purely based on merit), but the fact that Ryuden with only six wins has 42 kensho and Asanoyama with 11 wins only has 36 doesn't sit will with me...
Akinomaki Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 Hakuho today as the only one crossed the 1000 mark for kensho this year. Asanoyama just stayed in the top 10 this basho. Day 15 256: Hakuho 142: Takakeisho 79: Abi 68: Endo 53: Mitakeumi 45: Kotoshogiku 42: Ryuden 38: Kotoyuki 38: Myogiryu 36: Asanoyama 1 1
Amamaniac Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Abema TV posted the Top 5 kensho totals for 2019 (I've crunched the numbers to give each rikishi's earning power): 1) Hakuho 1027 (adjusted) –– 17.4 kensho (¥1,044,000 or US$9,606)/bout fought 2) Kakuryu 871 –– 14.8 kensho (¥888,000 or US$8,170)/bout fought 3) Takakeisho 854 –– 12.9 kensho (¥774,000 or US$7,122)/bout fought 4) Goeido 778 –– 11.4 kensho (¥684,000 or US$6,294)/bout fought 5) Mitakeumi 686 –– 7.6 kensho (¥456,000 or US$4,196)/bout fought *using ¥60,000 value per kensho after administrative fees 1 1
Akinomaki Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) No surprise - the total number of kensho is way below what was ordered at first - Kakuryu, Goeido, Tochinoshin, Takayasu out. 1234 kensho were actually placed, last year it were 1302 in the end. http://www.sanspo.com/sports/news/20191124/sum19112421450022-n1.html Edited November 24, 2019 by Akinomaki 1
Akinomaki Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 The full kensho ranking of the basho, derived from the new Nikkan banzuke data. Marked ? are those who are no longer on it, but surely had some kensho. Those back are marked bold, I subtracted the last known kensho standings from their present numbers, but they had most kensho in between, in some basho before Kyushu - Tokushoryu definitely had none this basho Hakuho 256 Takakeisho 142 Abi 79 Endo 68 Mitakeumi 53 Kotoshogiku 45 Ryuden 42 Kotoyuki 38 Myogiryu 38 Asanoyama 36 Daieisho 31 Kagayaki 31 Shohozan 31 Takarafuji 29 Chiyomaru 25 Hokutofuji 25 Meisei 24 Tamawashi 23 Onosho 22 Takayasu 22 Enho 20 Shodai 20 Yutakayama 19 Okinoumi 18 Sadanoumi 17 Tochiozan 13 Azumaryu 9 Ikioi 9 Terutsuyoshi 9 Tochinoshin 9 Tsurugisho 8 Shimanoumi 6 Takanosho 5 Aoiyama 4 Chiyotairyu 3 Ishiura 3 Kotoeko 2 Tokushoryu 2 Daishoho ? Akinomaki Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) The final kensho standings for 2019. He received kensho for both victories; based on the thickness (thinness?) of the kensho stacks in Kintamayama's video, 9 sounds about right.
