Guest Lynn Matsuoka Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Ozeki Musoyama dropped out the other day, saying his injured shoulder was the cause of his dismal performances this basho. Hoewever an inside source told me yesterday that beside his shoulder injury (very real) he has had a very bad sore throat since the first day. This has totally sapped his energy. The ozeki has shown himself able to overcome pain and physical disability in the past, but this systemic illness just did not allow for "mind over matter".
bennyloh Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 (Holiday feeling...) Welcome aboard, Lyn Matsuoka. Loved your numerous paintings on Sumo!
Burainoan Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I second that! i've enjoyed your work for years, but all i've managed to get so far is the postcards they have at K'kan. one of these days.... thanks for the Muso update. he seemed okay at asa-geiko on Sunday, but i did notice that he didn't really do any bouts or butsukari-geiko, so i guess that should've been a hint.
hoshidango Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Brilliant painting Lynn. Look forward to seeing new paintings in the future.
Mark Buckton Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Maru actually said "not gonna happen" when asked directly about this on air a few days back. Good news I think - at least Muso is a pure sumo dood - I like him.
Mikiro Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Welcome Lynn. I have your lovely Kaio print I bought from you in a place of honor in my family room. I swore to the print it was going to my basement bathroom though if Kaio didn't shape up this basho and by George he did so its honored position is saved. I am considering asking the print for lotto numbers next. I look forward to your future contributions as I know you have much inside Sumo information you could share.
