Kintamayama called last year's Aki basho the Wacky basho. This one is even weirder. It should be titled "Wackier Than Ever" or "Aki basho 2019--The 'Weirdness Continues". Or maybe we should take a tip from movie sequel titles and call it "Wacky II", "Son of Wacky", or "Return of the Wackiness". However it's described, this basho is fascinating. Actually, there is a real movie title that characterizes it perfectly--"That's Entertainment!".

And he's done it!

I just saw the ending which Hoshoryu looked cool, calm, and collected.   To me, he carries on like he deserves to be in Makuuchi.    Perhaps, he's the future of Mongolian post Hak and Kak.

Despite his supposed social anxiety, Furiwake has been a TV commentator as well and he does that job pretty well too, so I'm not really surprised. He seems a pretty bright guy.

Wow, as much as I don't like Takagenji, he did well against Terutsuyoshi.    Match of the day so far.

Enho gets his 2nd KK in a row.   But his opponents are learning to prevent Enho to get underneath which does not bode well for Enho's future.  Enho is not going to beat much bigger opponents from a distance.

Great sumo there from Asanoyama against a game Tomokaze to stay in the yusho race.

Tomokaze with his first-ever makekoshi.

Asanoyama and Tomokaze (even in defeat today) look like they are the real thing.

The gyoji saw the shinpan raise his hand so pointed towards Okinoumi but looking at the replay the shinpan was wrong... A mono-ii was needed at least to have another look and explain to the crowd. Endo got robbed.
