The future is a crazy place. Regarding sumo already the presence is crazy. The kadoban caroussel going RPMs not seen for a long time. Almost no basho without scandal and even it's a "forced" one like clapping at the wrong time. Beloved oldtimers intaiing en gros, midget fighting, a new generation forcing their way up. Yusho given out left and right like candy to guys who are not mongolian and/or yokozuna. The latter alone makes sumo much more exciting these days. 2
robnplunder Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Ikioi looked healthy on his way to a quick win on day 1. I say he takes the juryo yusho.
robnplunder Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Enho is off to a good start. I didn't see him beating Onosho. I predicted Enho to go MK and I hope he proves me wrong. 1
Jabbamaru Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 This Enho kid is a quick little mf*... Man...I love meisei's new mawashi. Sumo time again. Yay. 1
Eikokurai Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Damn, it completely slipped my mind the basho was starting today. I was cleaning the bedroom of all things. Missed everything before Takarafuji-Kotoeko.
Kaninoyama Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Enho and Terutsuyoshi are picking up right where they left off last basho.

Rainoyama Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Some lively sumo and nice throws so far I love it !
Eikokurai Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Takakeisho gets the win but not particularly convincingly. Being generous, I'll put that down to ring rust.

Rainoyama Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Not a convincing win for Takakeisho but it's to be expected given how rusty he is, he lacks his usual impact and power right now but he moved his legs well and quickly which is encouraging. 1

rhyen Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Live observation: the Mitakeumi crowd is drowned out by Enho (earlier) and Asanoyama crowd right now. Heck, it takes Enho and Terutsuyoshi ages to get past the outside well wishers that Takarafuji and Kotoeko actually managed to skim past them. Awaiting the Endo crowd
Eikokurai Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Tochinoshin and Ichinojo finished in less than a minute for the first time in as long as I can remember. Tochi not looking good. 1
code_number3 Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 Sekiwake Tochinoshin next basho
Benihana Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 But Takakeisho showed excellent balance. Others would have kissed the floor.
Eikokurai Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Great kinboshi for Hokutofuji! I do enjoy a day one defeat for Hakuho. It opens the basho up from the start. 3

Taikoubana Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Uh oh, Hakuho! Not a good start. Last time he lost on day 1 was Haru basho 2017, and he withdrew a few days after that.
