I suppose that it is only fair to announce (while there is still time to change picks) that I will probably not be as active in 2019 in sumo games as I was in 2018. For example, this coming basho I am in the UK, and will be travelling for at least part of the basho. Although I intend to enter my usual pre-basho games (time willing), I will probably only be playing bench Sumo as a daily game.  I am guessing that 'real life' might be a bit more hectic for me this coming year, and so there might be at least one other basho where my attendance is restricted.

Normally for Metasumo, I think that one *should* be obliged to pick oneself as part of your squad - and to date, I have always picked Jejima. But as it is not an actual rule - and I play to win - I will probably do the sensible thing and have the panda in my top pick slot!

As I am still lacking a date with Fujisan despite winning Metasumo twice, I have to give it another go!

1-5 Pandaazuma (I strongly disagree with Jejima: You should not be forced to pick yourself in this game, otherwise everyone else who ended up in the Top 5 would stand no chance to win!)

6-10 Gurowake (he really should finish in the Top 5 again)

11-20 Andonishiki  (all of the players ranked in this area could finish in the Top 10 next year, but he is sure to do so)

21-40 Asashosakari (possibly to toughest - and most important - decision to choose between him, Ganzohnesushi and Taka..)

41-80 Jakusotsu (off to a good start into 2019 with his GTB result, so keep it going!)

81-120 Kobashi (up-and-coming and bound for a top 50 finish at least)

121-200 Gawasukotto (as always it is about anticipating who is going to play the most in this area - and as always I have no clue and need to guess)

201+ Fukurou (selecting Nr. 201 must be a good omen in this slot)

The Metasumo 2019 standings have been updated after the Hatsu SB Masters.

Last year's runner-up @Wamahada is aiming for the yusho again! He leads the pack with 264.04 points. (Applauding...)

@Haidouzo (250.34) and @Jakusotsu (230.32) aren't far away from the top.

Apologies for the delayed update & thank you for the reminder, Pandaazuma.

Here are the Metasumo results after Haru SB Masters:

Haidouzo (436,46) narrowly overtook Wamahada (433,76) to become the new front-runner of the game.
Hearty congratulations on this incredible and historical Masters performance!   (Doingawave...)
Haidouzo picked himself in group 4 what makes the lead very well deserved. Beside his own pick, he only was chosen by Pandaazuma who therefore jumped from #14 to #4. Ganzohnesushi (402,61) is the third gamer to reach the 400 points.

I'm surprised  how many people picked me........

They don't know me too well,do they? ;-)

Even Feginowaka I feel humbled...........

Since March, Ganzohnesushi lurked in the hunting position behind the top-duo consisting of Wamahada and Haidouzo. Suddenly, he now attacked with great success to become the new leader. Hearty congratulations!!! (Doingawave...)

The Yellow Press reported that Ganzohnesushi will receive the Yellow Jersey in Paris tomorrow. Insiders already denied the rumor underlining that Sumo gaming is an honourable sport and 100% free of yaocho.

In fact, it should not be unmentioned that his trust in Gurowake really put him in front. A strong Nagoya Masters performance by Gurowake (33,50 points) let him actually pass his competitors who went with ScreechingOwl instead.

PLAYER 1-5
The defending World Champion Pandaazuma (240,65) continues to dominate. Even Norizo (134,21) is quite far behind.

PLAYER 6-10
Gurowake (86,40), ScreechingOwl (78,75) and chishafuwaku (74,19) are all doing well. But nobody went with the currently best option: Andoreasu (111,97).

PLAYER 11-20
Winning the Masters, Kitakachiyama (73,37) took a nice step forward. Terarno (77,66) remains the "best choice" in this group even without collecting any further Masters points in Nagoya.

PLAYER 21-40
Haidouzo (160,37) is the big deal here of course. But this group is very strong in general: Ganzohnesushi (120,42), Taka (87,71), Konosato (82,61), Asashosakari (76,42) and Gansekiiwa (75,13) are a guarantee for Metasumo points.

PLAYER 41-80
The favoured Fujisan (57,55) and Jakusotsu (46,26) are not unsuccessful. But way better choices would have been Gonzaburow (119,13), Nantonoyama (110,20) or Fujiyama (87,74).

PLAYER 81-120
If you want to get points here, you better should have picked the German gaming-talent Kobashi (96,47).

PLAYER 121-200
Athenayama (28,88) was picked by Haidouzo only. Well done. Other good options would have been Toonoryu (24,50), Natsunoyama (21,50) or Akinomaki (21,00) but these points are gone...

PLAYER 201+
Another difficult guess for the Metasumo players: Tsupparitaro (21,33), Ihopeso (18,86) and Miruto (17,50) are the secret stars in the last group. Unfortunately nobody picked them.

No one knew, including myself ;-) But I can stop playing at any time, so picking me is risky  :-)

The Metasumo points have been updated after the Aki Masters.

@Ganzohnesushi managed to extend his lead clearly. Now he is about 48 points in front of Wamahada. (Applauding...)

I guess it would be a huge surprise if he doesn't clinch the title in November from this position but we will see...

(Yushowinner...) Ganzohnesushi is the Metasumo champion 2019! (Yushowinner...)
           (Doingawave...)(Doingawave...)(Doingawave...)(Doingawave...)

My hearty congratulations to him on this well deserved title. The yusho race was very close in the end as pursuer Wamahada collected 164,73 Kyushu Meta points.
But Ganzo added another 118,24 points in Fukuoka and this was enough to defend his first place in the ranking.

Many congrats also to Wamahada who is only 1,6 points behind the winner and therefore gets his second consecutive Metasumo Jun-Yusho (after landing behind Flohru last year). (Applauding...)

(Firstprize...) @Ganzohnesushi (1.041,55)

(Secondprize...) @Wamahada (1.039,95)

(Thirdprize...) @Haidouzo (965,82)

Many thanks to Panda & Rando for their trust in me. I hope there will be many Metasumo players in 2020.

Hussa, with ScreechingOwl's superbe performance in Kyushu'19 this was getting really close and winning by the nothingness of 1,6 points is pure luck. In the end Yassier's mingy 1,88 points in Bench Sumo sealed it. Sorry Andreas, you would have deserved this Yusho as well.

Kudos to Tenshinhan for all his efforts. C u all in 2020.

Ganzohnesushi  (Firstprize...)

A million thanks to you for doing the admin for this. Really excellent stuff and I am very grateful. And yoroshiku onegaishimasu for 2020!

And congrats to Ganzo! That must be the closest one ever.
