WAKATAKE Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) Welcome to Class Dismissed Aki 2018, the 6th edition of the game! The goal of the game is to pick who you think will go kachi-koshi out of the current field of 71 70 collegiate rikishi in sumo. For each pick that goes KK, you will earn one win. If that pick goes MK, you will receive one loss. A fairly simple game but you got to know what you're looking out for. For rules please see below. Rules 1 - Pick 15 rikishi for your main team, and then pick one sekitori (Makuuchi, Juryo) and one lower division rikishi (Makushita, Sandanme, Jonidan, Jonokuchi) for your backup team in case somebody from your main team goes kyujo either before or on day 1 of the basho (substitutions are not made for mid-basho kyujo) 2 - You must select a minimum of 5 sekitori and a minimum of 5 lower division rikishi for your main team (in case of a tiebreaker) 3 - You will also select a tiebreaker team of one sekitori and lower division rikishi 4 - In total you will select 19 rikishi (15 main team, 2 alternates, 2 for tiebreaker team) Tiebreaker criteria 1 - Most Yusho won by team members, if same number the higher the division the higher the criteria 2 - Most Jun-yusho or yusho-doten won by team members, same criteria as yusho 3 - Strength of combined records for top 5 sekitori and top 5 lower division rikishi 4 - Strength of combined records for tiebreaker team 5 - Any wins by makuuchi team members over yokozuna and ozeki Here is the list of eligible rikishi to pick for the game: Asahi University (朝日大学) - Tokushinho (makushita 10E) - Aozora (makushita 55E) Chuo University (中央大学) - Yago (juryo 2E) - Takekaze (juryo 6W) - Ichiyamamoto (makushita 5W) Doshisha University (同志社大学) - Aratora (sandanme 68E) Kanazawa Gakuin University (金沢学院大学) - Enho (juryo 13W) - Tanabe (makushita 35E) Kinki University (近畿大学) - Asanoyama (maegashira 5W) - Takarafuji (maegashira 8E) - Shimanoumi (juryo 9E) - Tokushoryu (juryo 11E) - Tamaki (makushita 4E) - Homarefuji (makushita 6E) - Midorifuji (makushita 23E) - Ikegawa (makushita 24W) - Nishikifuji (makushita 37E) Komazawa University (駒澤大学) - Shohozan (maegashira 7E) Kwansei Gakuin University (関西学院大学) - Ura (sandanme 91E) Kyorin University (杏林大学) - Shunba (sandanme 85E) Kyushu Institute of Information Sciences (九州情報大学) - Azumaryu (juryo 13E) - Koba (makushita 23W) - Irie (makushita 39W) - Ichiki (makushita 52W) Meiji University (明治大学) - Takemasa (sandanme 38E) Nihon University (日本大学) - Endo (maegashira 3W) - Daishomaru (maegashira 9W) - Ishiura (maegashira 16W) - Akiseyama (juryo 3W) - Daiamami (juryo 4E) - Hidenoumi (juryo 6E) - Tsurugisho (juryo 8E) - Tobizaru (juryo 10E) - Mitoryu (juryo 10W) - Jokoryu (juryo 14E) - Kizenryu (makushita 1E) - Churanoumi (makushita 2W) - Shiba (makushita 8W) - Tenkaiho (makushita 11W) - Satoyama (makushita 21E) - Kizakiumi (makushita 24E) - Kiseoka (makushita 31E) - Tsushimanada (makushita 43W) - Yamaguchi (makushita 46E) - Maeta (jonidan 57W) Nippon Sports Science University (日本体育大学) - Chiyotairyu (maegashira 2W) - Myogiryu (maegashira 5E) - Hokutofuji (maegashira 9E) - Yoshikaze (maegashira 15W) - Chiyonoumi (juryo 11W) - Tomokaze (makushita 4W) - Higonojo (makushita 7W) Ritsumeikan University (立命館大学) - Omoto (sandanme 20W) (formerly Hotsukasa) Senshu University (専修大学) - Fukuyama (makushita 35W) - Mitotsukasa (makushita 50E) - Tetsuyuzan (sandanme 21W) - Arikawa (jonidan 42E) Takushoku University (拓殖大学) - Takaryu (makushita 38E) - Kawamoto (sandanme 80W) - Hatooka (jonokuchi 30W) Tokyo University of Agriculture (東京農業大学) - Yutakayama (maegashira 2E) - Shodai (maegashira 3E) - Kamiyutaka (sandanme 67W) Toyo University (東洋大学) - Mitakeumi (sekiwake 1E) - Wakatakakage (juryo 7W) - Sagatsukasa (makushita 11E) - Horyuyama (makushita 18W) - Murata (makushita 32E) - Komakiryu (makushita 40W) - Kaonishiki (sandanme 55E) - Terasawa (banzuke gai) Please submit your picks by 12am shonichi JST (9/9), or 8am PST Saturday (9/8). WAKATAKE Posted November 5, 2018 Author Posted November 5, 2018 Player records for Aki 2018: chishafuwaku: 10-5 Taikoubana: 10-5 wolfgangho: 7-8 WAKATAKE: 8-7 Flohru: 11-4 Achiyama: 9-6 Tenshinhan: 11-4 Fukurou: 8-7 Flohru and Tenshinhan both finished at 11-4, and both picked Daiamami who finished yusho-doten in their main team (Flohru picked Juryo yusho winner Tokushoryu as an alternate which unfortunately doesn't count). Therefore we have to go to tiebreaker #3 for the first time! Tiebreaker #3 is the combined records of each player's top 5 sekitori and top 5 lower division records. Flohru - Sekitori: 44-31 (Mitakeumi, Hokutofuji, Yago, Daiamami, Mitoryu) - Lower: 26-9 (Nishikifuji, Ichiki, Omoto, Takemasa, Ura) - Total: 70-40 Tenshinhan - Sekitori: 49-26 (Mitakeumi, Hokutofuji, Yoshikaze, Daiamami, Azumaryu) - Lower: 25-10 (Ichiki, Omoto, Takemasa, Kawamoto, Ura) - Total: 74-36 Very down to the wire, but Tenshinhan SQUEAKS out the yusho! A hearty congratulations to @Tenshinhan!!! 1

He will need either 13 wins or a yusho to clinch the promotion. Good luck! Edited November 5, 2018 by WAKATAKE 1

I’ll try it that way when I post tonight.
WAKATAKE Posted November 6, 2018 Author Posted November 6, 2018 We also bid goodbye to 3 rikishi who were a part of this game who retired after Aki 2018: Tetsuyuzan Kamiyutaka Maeta

I like the new way; it's easier for me to see who's who and what's what. The university info is nice to have, but IMO it was in the way in the previous format.
