Double Zenso-Yusho playoff?

Hi all, I’m an American who has been a fan of sumo for about a year, it is hard to find news and look up facts about sumo on American google. I was wondering, has there ever been a basho where two rikishi have perfect records going into a playoff?

Hi there.

Has never happened before, in Makuuchi or Juryo before, and the only way it could happen these days is if two people from the same heya were to finish zensho.

Surely there could also be a situation where someone outside Sekitori wouldn't be given a day 15 match against a 14-0 Sekitori, as that would break up the usual high-ranking matches?

14-0 sekitori don't come along too often, so I think they'd probably reschedule to make the two 14-0s face each other.

While this has never happened, there have been five day 15 matches between two 14-0 rikishi. If you follow the link, you'll find videos for all five.
