Pandaazuma Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 With the crocked yokozuna and two rather unpredictable ozeki, we are looking at one of the most unpredictable gaming tournaments for quite a while.

You say this as though it might be better next time, but those things aren't likely to be changing any time soon.

Yeah, it looks that way. But Haru could even put the recent Wacky Aki (etc.) tournaments in the shade. Oracle is going to be a nightmare, I suspect.
Asashosakari Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Seki-Quad is on a run of 10 straight tournaments with scoring below the historical average (47.9%). The longest streak before was 7 tournaments from Natsu 2008 to Natsu 2009, the next-"best" were streaks of just 4 and 3, also in the very early days (2007.07-2008.01 and 2004.09-2005.01). Conversely, the longest streaks with above-average scoring were 7 basho (2012.07-2013.07) and 5 basho (2011.07-2012.03). The basho in between those two streaks narrowly missed the mark at 47.0%, so basically after the yaocho scandal we enjoyed two+ years of consistently good scoring, and right now we're coming up on two years of the opposite.
Andonishiki Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 an Endo Yusho would dramatically increase turnover at the fan shops and also beer consum below the pink cherry trees ! Is it time for the messiah to bring salvation, finally ?? (Kise was just the archangel ?) I predict a Japan-born rikishi yusho in Kansai, the heart of Japan. Shota-kun, make Anamizumachi proud ! 1
Andonishiki Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 aaaand Endo already delivered on day ONE ! Forza messiah
Pandaazuma Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 So the leader of Hoshitori has Kisenosato in the 13 slot! ;) And...who is Henkahentai? Congrats on that name! ;) 1

Rocks Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Wow! Congrats to @kuroimori for the kinboshi in Sumo Game. Yokozuna @Pandaazuma didn't give it up easily. Great match! 1
Rocks Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 SalaryCap results are is up. Played for the 1st time. No clue what is gong on, just bought some guys then put them in descending order from how well I thought they would do. Not doing well but at least I'm not dead last. I have no clue what the score mean but I'm guessing @Kitakachiyama 180 on Day 1 is very good.
Pandaazuma Posted March 16, 2018 Author Posted March 16, 2018 Hmmmm...looks like I've got the pre-basho games badly wrong in several cases. I am scared to look at the Japanese ones! Must say I've been very impressed with Gansekiiwa's performance so far. He seems to be near the top of the standings in all the games! Very possible Green Mawashi if he keeps this up. 1

But it's early days yet. We'll see. I do have to say that, after how I've done in the past, leading Toto, with what amounts to a Murderer's Row in the Top 10 right now, is very satisfying.
Asashosakari Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Day W/L Pts K-S S-S Pick1 Pick2 Pick3 Pick4 1 l 2 1.08 0 Akiseyama Chiyonoo Kotoeko Seiro 2 l 2 0.88 1 Chiyonokuni Gagamaru Kotoshogiku (D) Myogiryu 3 l 2 0.53 0 Ichinojo Shodai Takakeisho Terunofuji 4 l 2 0.58 -1 Chiyomaru Hokutofuji Takanoiwa Tochiozan (F) 5 l 2 0.78 0 Aoiyama Kaisei Kakuryu Terutsuyoshi 6 l 2 0.47 0 Daishoho Kagayaki Nishikigi Takayasu 0-6 11 4.32 0 If I was still calculating luck scores for Quad, I'd probably be the runaway leader right now. The last time I was ranked in juryo in any of the Seki games was back in 2009, I believe, in Quad. Considering I'm down to M12 at the moment and with that basho result looming, that streak looks likely to come to an end... 1
Jakusotsu Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Your performance in Quad is still better than anything Kimurayama ever did in Makuuchi. Too bad the rules are different there...
Rocks Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Well, a really bad night in Juryo killed me in Toto and Quad. TTT is turning into a disaster per usual for me.
Sakura Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 I'm not thinking well. Every time I go back to look at results I think `why on Earth did I pick those?'

Well, last night was my first bad night but looking at it now I have just the opposite feeling. I wouldn't have changed much, if anything. I picked against Enho, Terunofuji and Aminishiki. What are the chances all 3 of them win on the same day the way they've been going? If 2 of them lose I have wins in both Quad and Toto. TTT is a different story. I often look back and wonder why i didn't see the obvious picks many do. On a side note I notice @Pandaazuma was the Bubble Boy in Toto last night. OUCH! My sympathies dude.
Rocks Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Is it just me or is Fantasy Sumo not updated for Day 9?
Pandaazuma Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 Well, as I said in the first post of this thread, this basho has proved pretty unpredictable (at least to me). This is probably my worst ever pre-basho performance. I am relying heavily on the dailies for Masters points, and that's never a good thing!

Rocks Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Well, I've faded a bit. Mostly do to getting Juryo picks wrong. Pre-basho, my confidence in Takakeisho and Hokutofuji to bounce back was misplaced sadly.
