I think the word "bouts" should be substituted for the word "basho", except for number 7, ne?

Oops! :-D

Thanks for your catch. 1, 4, 6 must be corrected to "bouts". Gosh KaioU would be as old as Yoda ( or not?? ) if this was his 1,200th basho! (Applauding...)

I wonder how many rikishi concentrate on records. Especially of the type '12 more wins to 200'.

I remember Brian Lara (all time great cricketer if you don't know him) trying to tip the scales on his 10000 test runs earlier this summer. From the point where he was 21 runs short and expected to knock them off within the first half hour of walking to the crease, he took three innings to get there (and was out for 7 in the last of those three, having reached exactly 10000). Thinking about it too much I guess.

These are the figures NHK English announcers usually use - any chance on a name about where it came from?

If you mean the source, it was an article in To-O Nippo newsppaper of September the 3rd, written by "Sumo-writer" Kyosu Toshisato. He used to work as a Kyodo-Press correspondent -widely known among sumo fans.

Thank you Amanogawa-san.

Will grin as I listen to the English side lasses and lads reeling this off this time round. (Blushing...)
