Akinomaki Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) Abema for the 15 days of the basho has now created a sumo channel https://abema.tv/channels/sumo/slots/D7jTq5pEddsBZ9 So far sumo was on the sports channel and last basho makuuchi in addition on the premium channel. The sumo channel likely will broadcast a repeat at once and the daily 30min digest, which they have on the AbemaNews channel. Now they have interviews with rikishi. There may be a short break, but it looks like on the sumo channel you can watch sumo the whole day - till the bouts starts, now a 30min block repeated of long interviews with a bunch of makuuchi rikishi - no CM so far - Ikioi-Kaisei-Goeido-Abi-Tochinoshin I haven't yet succeeded in using the Hoxx VPN also for Abema on my Android tablet - Hoxx is installed, but only works for the browser, not for the Abema app you have to install - and you can get that only with AKPure or the like, not from the Google play store etc. For Android you need to create a new VPN in the system settings and set the proxy there - I haven't found a usable proxy yet for this, and also the VPN apps I tried so far couldn't fool the Abema app. You similarly have to create a VPN to use AddBlockPlus on an Android device - this didn't work yet either the way they explain it should.

Akinomaki Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 (edited) The Abema broadcast has hugely improved: the CMs didn't disrupt sumo at all so far and there was nearly no trace of the annoying music - and they showed the whole of all dohyo-iri. It is actually foolish that they now show nothing going on instead of showing CMs - now at last a CM: but the CM of the start of makuuchi. Let's see how the makuuchi broadcast turns out to be. Edit: The pattern of having a guest with less knowledge of sumo than any new member of this forum is unchanged. That is a message that tells you that the Abema service isn't accessible at your location. You have to e.g. install a VPN add-on in your browser to hide your location and select Japan as the country: with that Abema is made to accept you as watching from inside Japan. Sumo is the most CM friendly sport, with enough time during shikiri where really nearly nothing is going on on the dohyo - but they place the CM block again to hide parts of the kensho parade or rikishi announcements. (from my extremely limited ability to read Japanese) Anybody else feeling that or am I completely off base?

They should feed in from the side or top with a fade rather than just popping in I think. I'm still trying to figure out what the abilities in the pentagon thing represent. Very video gameish.
