Pandaazuma Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 But I would bet my house that ScreechingOwl has Teru at 6! ;)
Ganzohnesushi Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Did not have the balls to pick him in UDH but I avoided Terunofuji in all other games also. My (completely useless) Oracle had him on 7-8. Ganzohnesushi

Gurowake Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who valued Terunofuji highly for this basho. If I was using a more "I want to win" strategy, I'd probably have done the same as Ganzo, not wanting to risk things on him being actually more injured than he seemed. But with my goal to be to see how well using only results can do, and with the historical results in general showing that long-term quality is much more important than short-term, I was stuck with him. I wasn't particularly happy to put him as high as I did in many games, particularly picking him in the ones you don't get subs for, but that's part of my challenge. Ishiura and Chiyoshoma being 3-0 tells me I'm 0-3 in Quad without needing to check anything else.
chishafuwaku Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 If Hokutofuji had won ... http://obg.sumogames.jp/cgi-bin/bsplits.cgi?stage=201801&d=4&ename=Gurowake&lang=en Anyone know the points record in a single day?

I forgot Terunofuji's kuyjo changed my strategy, so I wasn't as bad off as I thought. Nevertheless, I'm now 0-3 on days I haven't had a fusen assist, which is how Quad seems to be treating me the last few basho.
Rocks Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 It's pick 4 guys I can't stand night in Seki-Quad.
Haidouzo Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 This basho in a nutshell, courtesy of FS: "Feel like you don't know enough about the sport to create a winning stable? Never fear! compete against sumotalk.com's monkey. Each basho, our monkey will roll a dice in order to pick a fantasy stable completely at random just to show how competitive this method can be." The monkey is currently in first place. 1
Rocks Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 My pre-basho games are completely dead at this point. I had Hakuho and Terunofuji on everything. Along with dong miserable at the dailies this is going to be pretty awful for me. I was hoping to get back to at least middle of the pack in some of them. Oh well.

I picked you in Metasumo. You're in for a very good year. I can feel it. Me on the other hand? Not so much. But every basho is a new basho so, we'll see.

Originally I had Kakuryu in my pre-basho games. Unfortunately there was some quotation saying that he wasn't sure if he would enter so I switched to Hakuho. I did this because I was going away at deadline time to a place with no internet access. I didn't want to have picked Kakuryu only to discover that he wasn't taking part.
Pandaazuma Posted January 18, 2018 Author Posted January 18, 2018 Yeah this is a gift for anyone who has picked Kakuryu. Someone could clean up here. This is how 100+ Masters points tournaments are born.
Rocks Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 The Monkey just widened it's lead. With Hakuho out the Monkey is looking like a sure winner at this point.
Atenzan Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Is this still the scoring system for the superbanzuke masters? I reckon it's changed but I can't find anything more recent than the anasuya.com site... Yusho: 15 pts. ... Jun-Yusho: 12 pts. ... 3rd: 10 pts. ... 4th: 8 pts. ... 5th: 6 pts. 6th: 5 pts. ... 7th: 4 pts. ... 8th: 3 pts. ... 9th: 2 pts. ... 10th: 1 point

Rocks Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Wow, low scoring Day 6 in Rotosumo. Congrats to @Sakura taking the day with an 85. I wonder what the lowest score to ever win a day in Rotosumo is? Looks like TTT is turning into another bloodbath again, even with the fusens.
Haidouzo Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 If the Masters tables are resurrected somewhere, will the Monkey get credit for the FS yusho? 1

It would be a slight to simians worldwide if I denied the Monkey its highly deserved yusho. Probably PETA would sue me, too! 1 3
