He is like a sumo businessman. Improved version of Tamarikido back in the stone ages.

Now that's funny! (Laughing...)

I know one person who always disregarded both of them als "office clerks".

It is not that pulling is bad as such but for some purity reason, there is part of me who dreams of excessive punishment in form of all out push out/blast/chiyotairyuu by opponents who survive the pull. Even so that the puller would be thrown 4 rows into audience painfully. "That is what you get when you try to pull me!"-attitude. Now it is inherent part of sumo and am sure it has been even when always critical Kitanofuji was young and butsukarigeiko was so fast and furious that nearby onlookers crapped their pants or mawashi (jonokuchi 15y), training lasted for 9 hours after which they pulled tractor tires to Sumida river, ate chickens raw etc. Still these upcoming evidently very hard working youngsters Onoshi and Takakeisho both have ill advised pulls in their repertoire. Surely today Takakeisho's pull or evasion rather was geniously timed and beautiful but as a young rikishi it would be so heart warming to see those minimized.

Besides, Hakuho is also not healthy and might retire soon, then we could have Goeido as the sole Yokozuna!

I doubt that Hakuho will be retiring soon. He has a couple of records he has expressly stated he intends to have, and I strongly suspect he will have them. 40 yusho! I suspect that will be happening in 2018. We shall see.

Did anyone mention that Makushita 17 Toyonoshima got his kachikoshi today on his very slow journey back to the sekitori ranks? With Aminishiki too very close to Makuuchi, this good be awesome.

A ruptured achilles tendon is a possible career ender and I think many if not most people expected both of them to retire. That statement was especially true concerning Aminishiki who will be 39 years old in a couple more weeks. They are successfully recovering from a terrible injury that many never recover from. Their progress is absolutely amazing. This is the best sumo news I've heard in a long, long time. :-)

What?  Are you saying that Daishomaru was favored in your mind because he had more wins for the current basho coming in?  That's really silly.

Sorry if my use of the word "upset" upset you. ;-) The point I was trying to make was that up until Day 8, Daishomaru was leading the pack (along with Goeido and Onosho) with a 6-1 win-loss record.  His loss to Takarafuji on Day 9 did lessen his hopes to a degree.

Is Harumafuji going to last? You can't fault his fighting spirit or technique, but his knackered limbs are letting him down severely. I suspect he's only still in it at the behest of the NSK.

Four gold stars and counting.  My earlier prediction stands: if Harumafuji reaches five gold stars, he may well kyujo.  But I agree with you that the NSK would prefer to see him be around on the Senshuraku to fight Goeido thereby lending some legitimacy to a Goeido yusho (especially given that the competition was was not up to snuff this tournament).

Just caught up somewhat today. Still haven't seen the last tournament.

I thought Kotoshogiku would step up with this being one of his last chances to win something, but I guess not.

Sad to see Terunofuji still having injury issues. He hasn't been right since he got promoted and refuses to just take a break and heal up. I guess he will be back next time to go for the 10 wins to get back.

It's not over yet, but Goeido continues to show he's the 3rd or 4th best rikishi when he's inspired. The record books won't remember that he won one of the least competitive basho's ever. Never know, if he lucks out next tournament he could force his way into being a Yokozuna.

The dreaded wheelchair of doom was in action again. Kizenryu was unable to get up by himself. Seemed like something tore in his left leg.

And geez, why didn't anybody highlight this comedy tachiai back on Day 1? Somebody has to have watched that video before I just did... (Laughing...)

Not quite as funny, but a similar tachiai with Ryuden and Azumaryu today.

And a few days ago it seemed like Kizenryu finally had that KK coming :-(

Yes it is sickening. Such bad luck.

What the hell is up with Gagamaru? 3-8 from Juryo 7?? He's better than that surely.

Harumafuji showing Ishiura how that dancing twirly bit is done. If the grocery store story (elbow in the eye) is true, which I'm guessing it is, I'm pulling for anyone against Ichinojo. Maybe it was an accident, but folks don't normally turn around with their elbows high. I hope all the rikishi will give him some special love this basho. ...maybe the next one, too.
