Fay Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 As we can see, Yamamotoyama is fine and enjoys life. He lost about 40 kilo in hospital where he had to stay because of kidney problems. Just now he is flying to Los Angeles with Shirononami where he will attend a small sumo tournament, giving autographs, shaking hands, doing a sumo ceremony ... later he will also be in Kansas. In November he will be in Egypt for a festival, also doing a sumo ceremony.
Asashosakari Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 ... he will attend a small sumo tournament, giving autographs, shaking hands, doing a sumo ceremony ... "Yamamotoyama is the giant rikishi who performs dohyo-iri ceremony" Seriously though, good to hear he's in demand, and I hope he's healthy or getting healthy.
Doitsuyama Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 "Yamamotoyama is the giant rikishi who performs dohyo-iri ceremony" I dig the page where you sent me, and I see it's the era of kanban-ozeki. But I still fail to understand why you chose this basho?
Kofuji Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Took me a while too: "Ryuumon is the giant rikishi who performs dohyo-iri ceremony"
Asashosakari Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Meh, the basho doesn't matter, just the fact that YMY's gig is a throwback to two centuries ago.
Jejima Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Took me a while too:"Ryuumon is the giant rikishi who performs dohyo-iri ceremony" A few basho later, and there is a new giant performing the dohyo-iri - in fact it is his speciality...

Treblemaker Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Nicely done, Fay. Some good shots. How was his USA tour? Was it well received?

Fay Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 I completely forgot ... As mentioned somewhere above moto Yamamotoyama made a tour in the US and performed at several occasions. Among others he went to the 2011 Greater Kansas City Japan Festival. Yamamotoyama and Kelly Kneiting performed there and explained about sumo. He brought some souvenirs for me: I have 3 stickers left and a cap. If anyone likes somthing please tell me.

Toonoryu Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Any chance to get one T-shirt ? I have one left in M, if this fits you can get it. Have to take my measurements, often depends whether this is a "large" M. I'm 193 cm tall and weighs 90 kgs so that can be a little short...
Kintamayama Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Forgot about this-hard to watch, reminds me of a beached whale:
Treblemaker Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I had mentioned in a post in the other forum somewhere that I was always concerned about him "falling on himself", and that exactly what he did here. 600+ pounds coming straight down on that knee had to do some serious damage. Wanted to shove a grenade up the sphincter of the idiot making the stupid off-camera comments.
Kimyouzan Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 reminds me of a beached whale Unfortunately that's exactly what I thought of too. Poor guy :-|
Kintamayama Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) YMY came to the KKan today for the first time since getting banished. "I have lost 40 kilos", he said. He is attempting to kick-start an acting career in Rice (America) and lives there now. "I am a fatso - actor.. My dream is to be in a movie with Johnny Depp and Ken Watanabe", he added. Kiyoseumi was there as well today! What a surprise!
Kintamayama Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 250 kilos Ex-Yamamotoyama donned a mawashi today for the first time since he was banished from sumo at his old Onoe beya and even had one butsugari bout against Baruto. "It's been a while.. He's heavy.." said Baruto. "When I'm doing TV stuff in the USA I'm sometimes asked to do some shiko, which I don't since I don't see the need. I felt the need to move my body a bit today, but my Ozeki opponent was scary, " remarked XYMY.
