shimodahito Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 good day all, i have some .jpg pix that i'd like to share with the forum. but my computer knowledge is limited and i can't figure out how to cut and paste them in the text of my message. the 'IMG' button asks for a URL link.....huh? and the 'browse' button allows me to find only one image from my hard drive, but only the file name, rather than the picture itself shows up when i use the 'preview post' button. a simple cut and paste doesn't seem to work either. Manekineko Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 As far as I know, you can't just paste the image. You have to either put it online and then give the link with IMG button (that's how I do it), or attach it as you did right now. I don't know of any other option, but then Exil might have some other suggestions...
Shomishuu Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I also wondered how to send an image and like Shimodahito san, I am techno-challenged. After reading Manekineko's post I wondered how you put a photo online and then I figured it must have something to do with the "share-to-web" icon on my HP Photo Director so I got registered there and posted a photograph on the web. But...when I got onto the Test Forum and entered the photo's URL using the IMG button it gave an error message saying that you can't use an image extension on this board. The photo's URL was about as long as the autoban by the way...but anyway, since the URL is what it is...does this mean I have to find someplace else on the web to put a photo before I can send it with a post?? :-D
Kintamayama Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 (edited) I also wondered how to send an image and like Shimodahito san, I am techno-challenged. When you post a message, there is a "browse" button at the bottom. Hit it, look for the pic you want on your computer, and hit "add reply". It's as simple as that. You don't have to upload anything else.Just make sure the pic doesn't exceed 300k. Edited December 19, 2004 by Kintamayama
Shomishuu Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Thanks Kintamayama, though due to being deeply techno-challenged, it did take several tries to succeed on the test forum...since "My Pictures" is not an option on the browse function, I had to drag the photo over to My Documents, and when it still wouldn't send, I had to re-size the photo down to under 300k, and then voila! eureka!, etc. Nice to be a happy camper again (Blinking...)...at least till the next "issue." Thanks again.
shimodahito Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 thanks, but how do i insert more than 1 image per message. "PICTURE" text, text, text. "PICTURE" and how can i write some text after i insert the image? -
Doitsuyama Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I guess for more than one picture per message you would have to put the pic online on a webserver. There essentially isn't another way. In fact, the forum method to add one picture from your hard drive does nothing else, just everything on one click. Copying the file to the webserver (the forum webserver, I surmise), and creating a link to it in your post.
Exil Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 What Doitsuyama said above is correct. As for servers, most free web space providers (e.g. Geocities, Angelfire, Tripod...) do not allow image hotlinking (direct linking to images from another website). If your ISP does not offer you web space, you might want to check out the following free services: http://www.photobucket.com/ http://www.imageshack.us/ Be sure to read their Terms of Service (and the small print) before signing up.
