It seems unusual that a Yokozuna would reveal to the press (i.e., publicly) that he is injured or suffering pain.  Even before the bout in question, NHK announcers were talking about Hakuho's taped foot.  At least, Hakuho is no longer wearing an elbow supporter...

Day 3:

Hakuhou, allowing 37 year old Takekaze get a morozashi but winning by yorikiri in the end: "At some point I thought of throwing him, but I felt sorry for him.. Because he's 37.."

 

Takekaze, losing today to Hakuhou and tomorrow facing Harumafuji, his 4th straight Yokozuna opponent: "My sumo is good but if I don't win it's worth nothing. It's my last chance for a kinboshi. I can only give it my all.."

Soukokurai, losing to Kisenosato today and not getting a second consecutive kin-boshi: "If I would have won today, i probably would have become famous.."

I think I heard Kintamayama shout after Ikioi was awarded the kinboshi.  Gotta love diehard fans!  Just curious though: did Hakuho weigh in on the judges' decision regarding his loss to Ikioi (quotes in the press)?

"I heard them say 'torinaoshi (redo)',, Did I mishear them?" is what he cynically said to the press later.. As for his condition: "I can't do my regular tachiai (because of the skin peeling off his sole). Still, we have a long way-one bout at a time.. It's a wild Haru Basho, huh?"

Day 6: Terunofuji, losing badly to Takayasu: "It felt like he stood up first... He usually comes from under . I thought it was a matta and my body froze..'

I have to agree with Motakeumi. Winning always feels like a plus to me too.

And come on Terror! Matta? You both went at the same instant. Hard.  He still blew you away. Sour grapes are not a good look for Terror. 
He should have just screamed and let it go at that.

Terunofuji, picking Takekaze up and transporting him outside the dohyo: "I was in a position to do a yaguranage on him but I felt a bit sorry for him..The tsuridashi was no big deal"

 

Day 8:

Shouhouzan putting up a good fight against Kisenosato but losing in the end: "I concentrated to the maximum..I'm exhausted. Not a good sign for tomorrow.. The building was on fire. I gave it all I had. It was the main show today!! I couldn't finish it off.I was well 'cooked'..

They shouldn't feel sorry for Takakaze. He's maybe the only person more wily than Aminishiki. Takayasu better be on the ball Day 9.

Hokutofuji, gets dizzy after his bout: "When the bout ended I was so dizzy I was afraid I would collapse.."

Day 10:

Nishonoseki Oyakata is saying that if Takayasu gets the yusho, an immediate Ozeki promotion is "possible" regardless of the November 7-8 makekoshi. A zensho would make it 33 wins over three tournaments. But it seems a yusho would be enough.

Okinoumi, gets the win after a monoii reverses the gyoji's decision, and after losing on a monoii a few days ago: "I've been thinking a lot about the monoii. Do they refer to the video after their discussion? Do they discuss stuff based on the video? Do they say that the shinitai thing is really hard to explain?"

I thought he was feeling a bit faint at the sight of all that blood, because nothing in the bout could really explain it.

Happened to me once when I was about 15. Took the skin off the very end of my forefinger and nearly blacked out as the blood welled up! It's never happened since...

Day 14:

Harumafuji, losing today, after hearing the loud booing directed at Terunofuji as he was mounting the dohyo: "I've never ever heard such booing. I totally lost my concentration because of that..''

Tamawashi, on beating Harumafuji: "I'm still shaking all over from the win. I won't be able to sleep tonight.."

And the booing will certainly continue when Teru picks up the Yusho. If this was Wrestling I would say they are trying to create the next villain everybody loves to hate.
