Feginowaka Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 While rummaging some statistics, I found something very interesting concerning Kotomitsuki and Aki Basho. For the whole time in his Ozumo-career he has been very successfull at Aki Basho. Just a remarkable coincidence or will this streak continue even in 2004? 1999: 5-2 @ Ms1w ---> promotion to Juryo 2000: 14-1 @ J4e ---> YUSHO 2001: 13-2 @ M2e ---> YUSHO 2002: 12-3 @ M7e ---> jun-Yusho 2003: 11-4 @ M6e ---> shared jun-Yusho 2004: ??? @ M1e ---> jun-Yusho at least (Applauding...)
Jakusotsu Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 2000: 14-1 @ J4e ---> YUSHO2001: 13-2 @ M2e ---> YUSHO 2002: 12-3 @ M7e ---> jun-Yusho 2003: 11-4 @ M6e ---> shared jun-Yusho That is a perfectly linear trend to expect a 10-5 with not even a shared jun-yusho. He will get his first make-koshi in Aki in 2007...
Araiwa Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 2002 jun-Yusho was also shared... (Kaio and Takanohana had 12-3 records)
Shomishuu Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Problem is...since the bloom fell off his rose after the 2001 Aki yusho, the 2002/2003 jun-yusho performances took place at much lower ranks than he will be this time. Unless he somehow "finds something" again, look for another disappointment. ;-) Shomishuu
Mark Buckton Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Really hope he does well this time out - 11 or above I'm hoping for and know one member who'll be most vocal in his support of the big guy. Mitsuuuuukiiiiii. ;-)
Otokonoyama Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 The Moose (recently retired Musashimaru) was Mitsuki's bugbear. Time to get the lead out!
