sekitori Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) Goeido goes 0-15 to balance his 15-0 yusho. If Kyokutenho can win a yusho at 12-3 and follow it up with 2-13, such a situation doesn't seem to be as improbable as it might appear. Edited November 1, 2016 by sekitori 1

I actually thought about posting Goeido going 0-15 but thought "nah"

It's not too far fetched of a scenario. I am wild guessing that Goeido goes kaidoban. 1

Ganzohnesushi Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Aran and Hokuranzan are amnestied by the Kyokai and enter the basho as Ms15TD. Ganzohnesushi

Rocks Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Ikioi wins the Yusho in a 3 way playoff with Goeido and Takayasu. 1
Bumpkin Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) How about Ikioi defeats Hakuho in a playoff when Hakuho stubs his toe and falls down. Edited November 2, 2016 by Bumpkin

You are right. In his 13 bashoes as ozeki, he kadobanned 4 times. 1

He drops four more bouts to finish at 10-5 and ends with no promotion. Everyone expects Hakuho, Goeido or Harumafuji to be the winner, but the yusho is claimed by someone that no-one thought was capable of winning it - Kisenesato. These are reasonable predictions, although it's much more likely Hakuho to win the yusho than Kisenosato. Edited November 2, 2016 by Dapeng

robnplunder Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) How about a playoff in Makuuchi, especially, a playoff between an Sanyaku rikishi vs M14/15/16? And M14/15/16 rikishi wins it. Edited November 2, 2016 by robnplunder
Unkonoyama Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Aminishiki wins the juryo yusho and is back to makuuchi for January 4
Benevolance Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Though perhaps unlikely, given his M5 ranking, I would be content to watch Shohozan face-palm Goeidou out of the ring again. 1
RabidJohn Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) I've been racking my brains trying to come up with something, but I can't help thinking that if I'd been asked this two months ago I'd have said kadoban ozeki Goeido getting a zensho-yusho was about as wildly improbable as it gets - and look what happened! It's a bit tame in comparison, but my unlikely prediction is that Endo will get a KK at M3. Edited November 2, 2016 by RabidJohn 2

Good point on Goeido going from Kadoban to Zensho. What if I add Mitakeumi, Shodai to Endo's fate that they will both go KK.
Gurowake Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Kisenosato goes 13-2 again, losing to 2 Yokozuna, and does not get the yusho. 1
Atenzan Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 Here's how things will actually go. Kakuryuu gets angry and okurinages Endou into the second row, injuring (shimpan) Izutsu oyakata in the process. Izutsu is forced to retire, Kakuryuu intais to replace him, and Izutsu-beya merges with the new Naruto-beya, with (shisho) moto-Kotooushuu bossing Kakuryuu around daily for the next 30 years. Meanwhile in the basho Kisenosato freaks out and Endou starts a comeback, beating Kisenosato by windmill tsuriotoshi. Kisenosato kyujos out with a fractured cheekbone and Endou seemingly runs away with it, until he finds himself locked up in a three-way tie with Takayasu and Hakuhou at 14-1.. After 51 consecutive bouts of tomoesen, Takayasu beats Endou by izori and, right after that, Hakuhou snaps and kicks Takayasu in the jaw. Takayasu "wins" the bout by hansoku. He is promoted to Ozeki but is kadoban in March because he missed January due to complications following his jaw transplant; they've given him Kokkai's jaw and he attempts suicide after looking at himself in the mirror for the first time (the transplant was succesful). 5
bettega Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Kaisei will have a 10+ KK and will be Sekiwake again, starting his Ozeki run. 1
