The injury got the best of ikioi today. Chiyoshouma did well against him today.

Ikio didn't look bad in losing despite his not being 100%.

Gagarmaru looked pretty "light" in losing.

Amakaze looked happy after losing.

I have never had as hard a time telling rikishi apart as I do when I have to tell whether I'm looking at Chiyoshoma or Arawashi.

Indeed, Ikioi doesn't seem to have worsen his injury he just seems to cramble over the pain.

Amakaze look always happy, guess the guy is just thrilled to be up there. In the social media and off the dohyo generally he seems like a funny guy too.

Guess who decided to lag and froze right in the last four bouts? yeah, sherming22.

2 Yokozuna and 3 Ozeki, MY GOD!

Is Okinoumi gonna sweep all the Ozeki's? Is he gonna collect all three Sansho? Can you collect all 3 of them? Or are they gonna give him Shukun-Sho and Gino-Sho?

But honestly. If he beats Goeido later as a Maegashira...it would be glorious. If anyone ever is gonna get all three special prizes then it would be Okinoumi right about now. Now let's pray for 10 wins. Okinoumi is on stimulants.

The odd of Oki winning 6 in a row against the 6 rikishi was about 700 to 1 based on his past record against them.   Just amazing!

Honestly speaking, I think this might be the basho that Okinoumi will be remembered by. A culmination of his career so to speak. It is just amazing to witness.

M1 supposed to be a dog meat against 'zunas and ozekis.   Oki beat them all so far.   We won't likely see that in our life time.

If my Japanese comprehension is correct, Okinoumi has a chance at history tomorrow, as there have been no maegashira who have swept all six yokozuna and ozeki competing.

Feels like the deciding match happens tomorrow^^ goeido and okinoumi are both on fire..

Btw. what does someone get for a jun yusho? Just a pad on the back?

Actually I don't think there has ever been a maegashira who has beaten 5 competing Ozeki/Yokozuna in a single basho within six or so days. So he has already made it to history books. If he somehow managed to beat the monstrous Goeido (I never thought I'd use such a word to describe Goeido), he has been on fire too this basho, although his competition pales in comparison to Okinoumi's massive achievement.

Kotokamatani at 3-0

Ikegawa's winning streak from debut ended today as he lost to Daikamikaze. Total streak was 16.

Shame about Ikegawa, but the loss had to come at some point. I was beginning to think he might not be beaten until late Makushita because of his dominant size and power.

Kotokamatani, this kid is super impressive. When I first saw him in the pictures when he was recruited I knew he was going to be something special. Only 18 years old and he boasts quite a record already. Even if he starts to lose repeatedly I would not worry about him and give him 4-6 years to train his base. When he gets to 24-25 years of age and he is still a makushita I would worry about him.

Deciding history? Sure.

Deciding basho? Not even close.

Okinoumi, despite being the most impressive: Will fall. The pressure is building and clutching to him like a damn boa. He will get 10 wins, maybe 11.

Harumafuji is looking straight ahead and is still firmly in the race, he will most likely win. Although the only Ozeki who showed up will be difficult for him.

Kisenosato already lost his changes. Goeido will not bend the knee I'm afraid.

Pat on the back I'm afraid. Yusho-Doten would be nicer special mention.

" In September 2001, Kotomitsuki, in his championship tournament, came very close to being the only wrestler to receive all three prizes twice, but the Fighting Spirit prize went to then maegashira Asashōryū. "

That i call a bad beat. You have the chance for making history and a brat who fought only three bashos as maegashira spoils it.

Of course it is also possible to share prizes - they could have given it to both.
