It would be much simpler to just let yourself be pushed out. Totally painless and the judges wouldn't be calling for do overs.. Nobody is going to push him very hard once they feel him give right away. He's literally diving to the floor to make his time on the dohyo end as soon as possible.

Kinjo is twice as heavy with MMA fighter spirit: Hattori saw himself getting blown way into the seat rows - already with a painful neck

The only thing this kid is blowing into the seat rows any time soon is gas.

There was a similar Jk a year or two ago whose tachiai tactic was to turn right and run out of the ring chased by his opponent. I do not recall his name. I assumed he was a sensitive person who did not want to risk injuring his opponent. 1
Harry Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Going kyujo? Looks like he should go intai... Feel bad for the guy but diving or falling on your butt... it is comical but also very sad. Why did he join? 3

Unlike Okinoumi, Goeido still need to face all the top rikishi. He can easily lose 3 - 5 of those. I think Harumafusi has the best chance for Yusho.

Hattorizakura, who was afraid of his opponent, 3 times tried to lose on purpose, but each time was made to redo the bout. Shikihide: "After 1 year his neck hurts. He crumbled before his opponent." The oyakata was cautioned and told to properly guide his pupil. "We'll look at it and may think about kyujo - if he's not fit, it's an insult to the opponent." http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2016/09/16/kiji/K20160916013362390.html Hattorizakura did something similar before. He has to be banned IMO. He is making the mockery of his heya, sumo, and the fans. He is also likely to get hurt seriously. He won once and lost close to 30 matches and really needs to pick up another sport. Pro sumo isn't "it" for him. Shame.
rhyen Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Someone should try and get ahold of the sandanme match between Chiyoarashi & Shohoryu.

He may be in this basho to keep his ranking from slipping further down. Consider these facts: 1. He tore his achilles tendon four months ago, 2. It usually takes at least six months, probably even longer, for an achilles tendon injury to heal well enough for a rikishi to take part in a basho. 3. He's now 4-3 and needs only two, possibly three wins in his remaining bouts to stay in juryo, Considering that he's far from 100%, that's absolutely amazing. And even if he doesn't win another match, goes 4-11, and drops to makushita, considering that anyone else would be kyujo, that still amazes me. It's an extremely impressive performance. But Aminishiki has always impressed me and nothing he does will shock me any longer. If there ever was fighting spirit award given for a rikshi doing something close to impossible, Aminishiki would be a good candidate to receive it. I don't like henkas but if he has to resort to using one or two more to remain in juryo, I won't complain. Edited September 18, 2016 by sekitori

I think he's doing it on experience alone, without being in shape. It's good that the risk is paying off.

Asashosakari Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Maybe he's just a huge fan of the guy in my avatar.
taresu Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Watching Hattori bout in the video reminded me of Kyokutaisei and how his father forced him to quit Judo to do sumo. Looking Hattori for a while and seemed to me he just not want to be there at all, with neck injuries or not, he just don't have the spirit to fight up there. Kyokutaisei turned around and kept going on sumo, doing fine so far. Hope time put sense in Hattori's mind or he just quit for something he really enjoys. It would be really sad to know that he actually loves the sport and wants to be there but just is so afraid to do something.
robnplunder Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 It was painful to watch Osunarashi. I think he should go back to kuyjo rather than risking bigger injury. He's not likely to win any more matches given his injury.
Rocks Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Amimishiki now 5-3 after a win over the juryo leader who was 7-0. Incredible. Sato got a win and is starting to look good again. Ura also won in what can only be called an embarrassment of a sumo match, especially for Asasekiryu.
Jyuunomori Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Aminishiki is such a boss, I honestly hope he can make one final hurrah in Makuuchi. I don't want to see the ''Wily One'' go. Chiyoshoma keeps on winning, should we be surprised since he is a mongolian?
Rocks Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I think we should be surprised considering it took him 6 years to make Maegashira 2
Asashosakari Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Tamawashi wins by shoulder tackle. 1
