If I were konishiki I would be very unhappy with how Kisenosato is considered for yokozuna promotion..

But you aren't and he isn't..

did you talk about his yokozuna run with him when he was in Israel? I wonder how he feels now, especially with that whole debacle with the press.

Why would he be?

The decision not to promote Konishiki (because he was a foreigner, regardless of what anyone tries to tell me) is water long passed under the bridge, and it did him a favour.

There's no doubt in my mind that he'd have had to go intai a lot sooner as a yokozuna, so the decision lengthened his active career and thus gave him the opportunity to become the fantastically popular figure he is today.

I didn't. We were having a friendly chat so I had no intention of asking provocative questions. I'm not a journalist. I'm.. well.. Kintamayama. A sumo fanboy.

The Isegahama sanyaku rikishis all had morning off to prepare for the ceremony. Even Harumafuji dropped by the heya dohyo to pray to Kami-sama before departing for the venue.

I haven't got a chance to introduce myself to him, and he looked a bit rush.

any tips?:-P

Sure. Bring him some nice sake (not the cheap ones in a carton, a bottled one), and say: "Sumimasen, genki desuka?"

Then run.
