The award and its name have been given at the very unfortunate time.

Does Asashoryu have any relatives in the Olympics? I was watching the opening ceremonies, and thought I saw someone that looked a LOT like him. And no, this isn't one of those "They all look the same" threads. I know his family is very athletic, so there is a chance.

What was the bad timing behind this award, you mean? (Showing respect...)

I think he means that Asa was given an "Image Ambassador of Mongolia" certificate around the time when he got drunk and smashed the door to his heya. Not exactly an image enhancing event.

Well, I do still remember that event, but I think it was some time ago by now and since Asashoryu has been so popular with the tabloids the last couple of years, I personally don't think the timing was much worse than can be expected. But then that's my view... (Showing respect...)

Of course, just BECAUSE he is so popular with the tabloids in Japan right now one could have opinions whether making him "image ambassador" at all, at least for another year or so, is advisable... I don't have much of a view on that though. :-D

EDIT: Ah, I realize the timing was much much worse than I imagined, this originating from a post from July 26th :-P
